Specialist Teachers. The Board, in exercising its right to determine program and curriculum will endeavor to employ, within the limits of finances and personnel acceptable to the District, specialist teachers, such as, but not limited to physical wellness, library/computers, art and music. During the regular school day when the specialist teachers are present and assuming prime responsibility for a class, teachers in the elementary grades will be permitted to use their time for planning and other duties related to their teaching. Elementary specialists will be provided additional prorated per diem compensation for teaching and travel time which exceeds the instructional time of a regular elementary classroom teacher.

Specialist Teachers. Full time teachers not assigned to a regular class are to be on duty at least 7 hours and (30) minutes each day. Teachers on Special Assignment, with administrator approval, may find it necessary to adjust their daily working hours in order to address training opportunities for staff and parents. The instructor will still recognize the 7 hour and 30 minute work day.
Specialist Teachers. 8.11.3.7.1 The specialist teacher is responsible under the FCEA teachers’ contract to be at his/her site for work fifteen (15) minutes before and fifteen (15) minutes after the students’ instructional day. Specialist Teachers. Teachers in PE, Science, VAPA, and other subjects are important during distance learning. This MOU establishes a schedule for the provision of synchronous teaching. Specialist teachers will work with their school principal and others to coordinate these sessions in order to maximize students’ access to learning. The number of synchronous minutes required for part-time teachers shall be prorated based on FTE (1.0 FTE equals 855 minutes per week).

Interviews will be scheduled on the evening prior to the Professional Activity Day. The Principal will consult with the teachers so that the interviews offered on the Professional Activity Day will be offered in either of: The morning; The afternoon; The equivalent of one-half day during the day. During the block of time that interviews are not offered, the teachers are not required to be in the school. Notwithstanding the above, the parties agree that a teacher will schedule interviews at times other than the above to accommodate the scheduling requirements of a parent/guardian.
