Special Project Employees. Employees hired for special projects as mutually agreed between the Employer and the Union or employees hired under the auspices of the federal or provincial Special Employment Programs; these employees shall be considered terminated for cause upon completion of their project or programs.

Special Project Employees. Special Project Employees" are employees hired for a specified period of time, not to exceed six (6) months, for special projects as mutually agreed between the Employer and the BCGEU including employees hired under the auspices of a Federal or Provincial special employment program. Such employees shall be members of the B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union and will be entitled to all benefits of the Collective Agreement as a casual employee. If the special project continues past the six (6) month period, the Parties may mutually agree to a further period of six (6) months. If the special project continues into a second year, the position shall be posted.

These special positions shall not displace nor replace existing positions or staff. In each instance, the employer shall work cooperatively with the employees and the union representatives in the development of the duties wages, benefits and hours of work of the project employees and summer students. Special Project Employees. Special project employees are employees hired for special projects, as mutually agreed between the Employer and the Union, including employees hired under the auspices of the Federal or Provincial Special Employment Program or a project approved by the National office. These employees shall be considered terminated for cause upon completion of their project or programs. Those employees who are hired for a one (1) year term, in accordance with Article 2.3, or whose term is extended beyond six (6) months, shall receive the full benefit package, as allowed by the carrier, for six (6) months, however, are not entitled to severance pay as outlined in Article 13.
Special Project Employees. (a) Special project employees are employees hired for a specified period of time in order to perform a specific task, project or campaign. The funds to pay for the position are received under a time defined contract. Special project employees will not replace any bargaining unit work. Special project employees may, with advance notice, be dismissed prior to completion of the specified term. Union dues will be remitted by Employer to the Union.

Wage rates shall be subject to mutual agreement between the Parties. If the special project continues, the position shall be posted.
