Special Duty Assignments. It is recognized that from time to time it may be advantageous to an individual and to the University for Bargaining Unit members to be released from instructional duties in connection with specific research, scholarly, administrative duties, or creative programs. The Xxxx or Library Director must forward his/her recommendations for special duty assignments, along with the recommendations submitted by the Department Chairperson in consultation with the members of the Department, to the Xxxxxxx and Vice President for Academic Affairs. The terms and conditions of such special duty assignments will be mutually agreed upon by the individual and the Administration subject to approval by the Board of Trustees.

The Chief of Police may, in response to operational and/or programmatic demands, assign a permanent employee(s) to Special Duty Assignment (SDA) in one of the following areas with accompanying supplemental compensation indicated as a percentage of base pay or annual supplement, as appropriate: * Detached Personnel (4%) (law enforcement agency or police academy) * Field Training Officer (4% of base Pay) Letter * K-9 Officer (4% of base pay) * Youth Crime Watch (2.5% of base pay paid by assigned school) * Detective and Detective Supervisor (4% of base pay) * Public Information Officer (4%) * Police Instructor (4%) * Attached Personnel (4%) (function within the agency or as determined by committee comprised of (1) FOP 133 Executive Board Member, (1) Police Command Staff Member, and (1) M-DCPS Administrative Director assigned to the Office of Labor Relations)

Special Duty Assignments. Any full-time teacher may apply for a special duty assignment such as K-3 Team Leader, 4th Grade Team Leader, Contact Teacher, or Coordinator. The individual’s teaching assignment must be within that specific grade level or content area. The assignment shall be for two years. Xxxx Team Leaders will be appointed on a year to year basis and will be released from administrative duties. At the end of the two-year period, each position shall be posted. Applications for these positions shall be made to the Deputy Superintendent by April 1st for the following two years. When a special duty position becomes vacant, the Committee shall recommend to the Superintendent of Schools the person to fill the vacant position.
