SKILLED TRADES APPRENTICES. The purpose of this Appendix is to the provisions governing registration, education, seniority, and all other matters peculiar to skilled trades apprenticeships. Provisions of the Collective Agreement shall apply to all skilled trades apprentices except as altered by the provisions of this Appendix or by the apprenticeship standards as .established by the Joint Apprenticeship Committee. Apprenticeship Committee A Joint Apprenticeship Committee shall be established. This Committee shall be composed of an equal number of members, from management and from the local union, one of which will be the skilled trades chairperson. In addition, the Bargaining Chairperson and the Human Resources Manager shall be ex-officio members and shall act as Chairperson and Secretary or vice-versa. The function of this Committee shall be to advise on all phases of the Apprenticeship Training Program. This Committee shall meet quarterly and as required. At least two members of the Committee from the Union and two members of the Committee from the Company must be present in order to administer the Apprenticeship Standards.

Employees from the bargaining unit will be given preference into the apprenticeship program. The senior applicant will be selected to fill a vacancy provided the senior employee passes the appropriate aptitude test. A Joint Apprenticeship Committee shall be composed of an equal number of members. One from management and one from the skilled trades classification, which will be the Skilled Trades Representative on the Plant Committee.

Provisions of the Collective Agreement apply to all trades apprentices. A Joint Apprenticeship Committee shall be composed of an equal number of members, three (3) from Management and three (3) from the Trades classification, one of which will be the Trades Chairperson. One (1) of the Management Committee persons shall be the Chairperson, who shall break the vote in the event of a tie. The function of this Committee shall be to advise on all phases of the Apprenticeship Training Programme. This Committee shall meet quarterly and as required. At least two members of the from the Union and two members of the Committee from the Company must be present in order to administer the Apprenticeship Standards. All apprentices will be registered with the Ontario Department of Labour and the Ontario Training Adjustment Board. All apprentices will sign a written Apprenticeship Agreement with the Company. INITIAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS An Apprentice will be required to have all Ontario Academic Credits or equivalent. Exception to these requirements may be made by the Apprenticeship Committee.
SKILLED TRADES APPRENTICES. The normal hours in a work day on a one (1) shift operation are defined as follows: Day Shift: 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The normal hours in a work day on a two (2) shift operation are defined as follows: Day Shift: 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Afternoon Shift: 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The normal hours in a work day on a three (3) shift operation are defined as follows: Day Shift: 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Afternoon Shift: 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Night Shift: 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The normal work week will start at 10:00 p.m. Sunday for a three (3) shift operation. A twelve (12) minute paid break will be taken approximately 2 hours into the shift, and approximately 2 hours prior to the end of the shift.

  • STUDENTS AND BUSINESS APPRENTICES A student or business apprentice who is present in a Contracting State solely for the purpose of his education or training and who is, or immediately before being so present was, a resident of the other Contracting State, shall be exempt from tax in the first-mentioned State on payments received from outside that first-mentioned State for the purposes of his maintenance, education or training.

  • APPRENTICES 6.36.1 The Contractor acknowledges and agrees that, if this Contract involves a dollar amount greater than or a number of working days greater than that specified in Labor Code Section 1777.5, this Contract is governed by the provisions of Labor Code Section 1777.5. It shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to ensure compliance with this Article and with Labor Code Section 1777.5 for all apprenticeable occupations.

  • Adult Apprentices People who are 21 years of age or over at the time of entering into an apprenticeship with the Employer will be paid as per the wage rates set out in the appropriate Appendix to this Agreement. Where special or unusual circumstances occur or apply and where the parties to this Agreement and the adult apprentice agree in writing, the adult apprentice may be paid at a lesser rate, provided that the lesser rate will not be less than the rate for a junior apprentice set out in the appropriate Appendix to this Agreement.

  • Apprenticeships 20.1 The parties are committed to providing increased employment opportunities for apprentices and trainees through an effective manufacturing industry policy and an increase in apprenticeship places in the TAFE system.

  • Apprentice Wages (a) Apprentices’ rates of pay are set out in Appendix B which includes the description of the calculations.

  • Apprenticeship Training The enterprise agrees to work with the union to improve apprenticeship training and the number of apprentices in training.

  • JOINT APPRENTICESHIP COMMITTEE There is hereby established a Joint Apprenticeship Committee as defined in paragraph (c) hereof. This Committee shall be composed of four (4) members, two (2) representing the Company and two (2) Journeymen/women employees representing the Union. The Chairperson shall be the Supervisor of Apprentices. The Committee shall meet once a month unless otherwise agreed. It shall be the duty of the Committee:

  • Paraeducators A Paraeducator who has successfully completed a probationary period of ninety (90) calendar days. The term Paraeducators shall include all Paraeducators as defined in Appendix B. Paraeducators will work a 186-day contract, 7½ hours per day and receive four (4) paid holidays unless otherwise specified.
