Sick Leave for Personal Necessity. 5.11.1 A member of the bargaining unit may use up to ten (10) days per year of accrued sick leave, at his/her election, for absence caused by personal necessity. Personal necessity is defined as an emergency or personal matters which require the member to be absent from working during his/her regular work hours and which cannot be accomplished during the member’s non-work hours. Determination of what constitutes “personal necessity” for a given individual shall be the responsibility of that individual.
