Shift Extensions. Shift extension overtime shall be offered in seniority order among those on the shift and mandated in inverse seniority order.

Coastwise In coastwise operations any shift may be extended up to one hour at any time, and up to four hours following a meal break, with a minimum of three hours if called back after a meal period, when no other suitable employees are available. Coastwise – Cruise Vessels (Vancouver and New Westminster) When a cruise vessel is sailing, any shift may be extended one hour or two hours at any time, and up to four hours following a meal break, with a minimum of three hours if called back after a meal period, when no other suitable employees are available. The two hour extension is only intended to accommodate late arriving passengers and/or baggage. Vancouver Island – Deepsea Ships Three hour extension – home port, including Cowichan Bay, to shift or sail when no other employees available in Local area. Day shift only – Monday to Saturday Three hour minimum if called back after a meal period. No extension on travelling gangs, except one hour to shift or sail between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Shift Extensions. Where it is deemed necessary to extend shifts on short notice, such extensions will be offered by seniority, subject to availability, to employees whose shift is ending at the time the extension is required by the Employer. This will not apply in cases where the extension of the senior employee(s) would result in overtime.
Shift Extensions. When deemed necessary by the employer to extend an existing shift of a regular or casual employee, it will be first offered to the employee currently on duty in the respective community residence and subsequently offered to other employees in accordance with the normal call-in procedure, including other employees on duty in other community residences. An extended shift will be defined as additional hours added to an existing shift, providing that there is no gap in time, and totals no more than twelve (12) hours or twenty (20) hours in the case of a twenty four (24) hour shift. The Employer will be responsible for travel time to an alternate work site.
