Shift Duration. (a) The maximum number of ordinary hours that an employee may be rostered to work on shift is 12 hours.
Shift Duration. Shift schedules of four (4) weeks duration will be posted ten (10) days in advance, one (1) Union xxxxxxx may take a copy of the schedule at the time of posting. Should the Home change the shift duration provided for in this Article, then it shall pay to each employee affected by such change at the rate of one and one-half (1½) times their regular pay for the first shift worked by them under the amended shift schedule. Employee’s requests for specific days off must be submitted to the Executive Director or designate fourteen (14) days in advance of the posting of the schedule.
Shift Duration. (a) In the event that an existing shift duration does not result in the provision of satisfactory service to the public; or is operationally impractical for other reasons; the Employer will consult with the Union, with the view to minimizing any adverse effects that a change to existing shift duration may have on employees. The Employer will give the employees sixty (60) calendar days advance notice of the shift requirement; and invite expressions of interest. The expression of interest notice shall include the required: number of employees; classification; abilities, experience, qualifications, special skills and physical fitness, where applicable, reflecting the func- tions of the job concerned; and shift duration. If there are more qualified volunteers than required, prefer- ence in filling the positions shall be given to the employ- ees with the greatest length of seniority.
Shift Duration. Shifts that are regularly worked by nurses are the following: Day shift: 07:00-15:00 Evening shift: 15:00-23:00 On-Call/Stand-By shift: 23:00-07:00 Swing shift: 12:00-20:00 In addition, nurses may agree to work a night shift with a single patient, which is regularly scheduled from 23:00-07:00.
Shift Duration. Alert may be of varying duration; however, Alert will be at least eight 22 (8) hours if the employee is regularly on a 5/8 work schedule or ten (10) hours if the employee is 23 regularly on a 4/10 work schedule when the alert status shift is in lieu of the employee’s normally 24 scheduled shift, and eight (8) hours when the Alert shift is on a regular scheduled day off or holiday.
Shift Duration. 5.24. The duration of any a single shift should not exceed 12 hours excluding handover time.

While the current normal work shift consists of an eight (8) hour shift, at the sole and exclusive discretion of the Chief/designee, ten (10) or twelve (12) hour shifts may be adopted and utilized within the department. In the event that alternative scheduling is to be introduced, the Employer will meet and discuss the matter with the union so as to ensure that proper coverage can be achieved in a cost-effective manner.
