SHIFT BID PROCESS. A) An annual bid process for shift preferences shall occur during the last quarter of the calendar year for the following year. Shifts will be awarded by classification seniority.
SHIFT BID PROCESS. 10.01 The City agrees that the assignment of personnel to shifts in the Field Services Division will occur through a bidding process based on seniority. The City agrees that there will be no more than three (3) shift bids per calendar year and that no shift schedule will be longer than six (6) months. The first shift bid will occur on or before April 1st of each year. In the case of an emergency related to low staffing which results in an inability for the Field Services Division to provide sufficient community coverage during all hours of the day based on the currently bid shift, City management may bid for a new shift schedule. Management reserves the right to make immediate changes to the officer shifts pursuant to Article 2 of this agreement if doing so is necessary to provide sufficient manpower to staff the existing shifts until a new shift can be bid. For efficiency, management may bid an alternative schedule to be used in case of a staffing emergency concurrently with the shift bid on April 1st. If an alternative shift bid is implemented, it will remain in effect until the next regularly scheduled shift bid, unless Management and the Bargaining Unit agree to implement a new shift schedule or accelerate the time for the next shift bid. It is hereby agreed that if the City desires to change the manner in which Field Services Division employees are assigned to shifts, except in the case of a temporary emergency, the City shall give written notice of such changes to the Bargaining Unit prior to making any change or issuing any directive. The written notice shall occur in the form of the Staff Review process, through their chain of command, to review the proposed changes and comment upon them before they are initiated. The reasons for the proposed changes, and the contemplated changes themselves, shall be stated in the written document presented for Staff Review.
SHIFT BID PROCESS. The following shall outline the process to be followed with the decrease in positions as a result of the cessation of grocery operations at the Xxxxxx Retail Support Centre. The Company will conduct a shift bid to facilitate placement of remaining employees. The Company will provide the classification, shift and schedule requirements to meet remaining business needs including the full time and part time compliment. The number of posted jobs on each shift and each schedule are based on staffing requirements to ensure that successful employees for posted jobs would be working in the posted job. Each posting will provide details around job, department, shift schedule (days of the week) and required skills and qualifications. Employees will select their positions, shifts and schedule by seniority top down. The Company shall provide dates and times for canvassing two (2) weeks before the beginning of the canvassing process. The canvassing process will begin eighteen (18) weeks before and end no later than fourteen (14) weeks before cessation of the grocery operations. Management will speak with each employee in order of seniority and ask the employee to select the job they prefer. All full time employees will be canvassed for open positions (both full time and part time positions) in order of seniority and then part time employee will then in order of seniority be provided the opportunity to select among remaining positions if applicable. The Company will call the employee at home during specified times if it is not their work day. Employees must be available at the time of calling so the process is not held up. If an employee is not available the canvassing process will continue. A form will be available to employees to rank their preferences in the event that the employee is unavailable employees at the time of canvassing must select a posting. Employees who do not select a posting at the time of canvass will be allowed to select among the remaining when they determine their posting selection. The final schedule will be posted no later than twelve 2) weeks prior to cessation of grocery operations. Employees will continue in their posted positions prior to the notice period and work will continue to be allocated according to the work allocation process contained in the collective agreement until all grocery work has ceased. SHIFT BID PROCESS. SENIORITY The current squad makeup of the Zephyrhills Police Department is four patrol squads (Two “dayshift” squads and two “nightshift” squads), consisting of a sergeant (shift supervisor), and two or more subordinate officers. Continuous service is defined as the period of employment not interrupted by resignation, voluntary demotion to non-sworn or part-time position, dismissal, retirement, quitting without notice, or any other termination of employment. Time spent greater than thirty (30) calendar days on a leave of absence or layoff shall not be credited in the calculation of seniority dates. In December of each year, seniority lists sorted by rank shall be posted for review and verification by Officers. Those Officers who are on probation will not be allowed to participate in the bid process and will be assigned by the Chief or his designee and area of assignment on an annual basis during December of each year. All matters pertaining to the shift bid process and seniority that affects Officers of the bargaining unit remain subject to the approval of the Chief or his designee.
