Shared Leave Program. The shared leave program is administered consistent with state law and University policy. Employees seeking to request shared leave or to donate shared leave to another employee will follow the request procedures that the Human Resources Department publishes for that purpose.

Shared Leave Program. Pursuant to state law and the College’s Shared Leave Policy, eligible faculty members may participate in the Shared Leave Program.
Shared Leave Program. The Shared Leave Program enables regular full-time Employees to donate annual vacation leave to fellow regular full-time Employees who are faced with taking leave without pay or termination due to extraordinary or severe physical or mental illnesses, or other similar catastrophic events. The program is not intended to act as an extension of Disability Leave for LEOFF I Employees. The program also allows Employees to accept donated annual vacation leave to care for immediate family members suffering from an extraordinary or severe illness if the duration of the illness will cause the Employee to take leave without pay or to terminate his or her employment. "Immediate family" shall include an employee’s spouse, mother, father, brother, sister, children, step-children, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent, and grandchild. Implementation of the program for any individual Employee is subject to agreement by the Chief, and the availability of shared leave from other Employees. The Chief's decisions in implementing and administering the shared leave program shall be reasonable, but shall not be subject to the grievance provisions of this Agreement.

Upon approval of an application, District employees will be notified of the request for shared leave and will be provided with shared leave donation forms. Upon receipt of completed shared leave donation forms, the District will determine the eligibility of donors. A list of all eligible donors who respond by a specified deadline will be established by random selection. The names of eligible donors who respond received after the specified deadline will be added to the list in the order their donation forms are received. Shared leave will be charged against each donor's leave balance, beginning with the first donor on the list and proceeding consecutively through all donors such that each donor shall be charged one day at a time. If additional leave is required and there is donated leave remaining, the cycle shall be repeated until use of donated leave is no longer necessary or donated leave is exhausted. In the event all donated leave is not used by the leave recipient, unused donated leave shall be restored to the donor's leave balance. The program will operate District-wide on a dollar value basis. Donations will be converted to a dollar value based on the rate of pay of the leave donor. The leave recipient shall be paid his or her regular rate of pay. Because of differences in pay rates, one hour of donated leave may cover more or less than one hour of the recipient's salary. Shared Leave Program. The Shared Leave Program enables regular and limited term full-time and part-time employees to donate annual vacation and/or comp-time leave to fellow regular full-time and part-time employees who are faced with taking leave without pay or termination due to extraordinary personal illness or incapacity or other similar catastrophic events. The program also allows employees to accept donated annual vacation and/or comp time leave to care for immediate family members as defined in Section 1 of Article XVII of this Agreement, suffering from an extraordinary personal illness or incapacity if the duration of the illness will cause the employee to take leave without pay or to terminate his or her employment. Implementation of the program for any individual employee is subject to agreement by the City and the availability of shared leave from other employees. The City's decisions in implementing and administering the shared leave program shall be reasonable.
