Section 1: Sick Leave. A. The Employer shall furnish each employee with a written statement at the beginning of each school year setting forth the total accumulated sick leave credit for said employee. The employee will have ten (10) days from receipt of the written statement in which to bring to the attention of the Employer any alleged error in the stated amount of sick leave credit. In the absence of timely notification by the Employee, the Employer's records shall be considered conclusive.
Section 1: Sick Leave. 1.1 Full-time bargaining unit members employed five (5) days a week for a full work year of service shall be entitled to ten (10) days of sick leave. Bargaining unit members employed less than full time and/or for less than a full work year of service shall be entitled to that proportion of ten (10) days’ sick leave as the amount of employment bears to full time.

All teachers shall have thirteen (13) days sick leave each school year credited to them at the beginning of the year, but prorated if they leave the School District for any reason prior to the end of the school year, accumulative to the number of teacher work days. A written statement of accumulated sick leave shall be given each teacher by October 1st of each year. Pro-ration also applies to teachers who enter the system after the beginning of the school year. Teachers with a minimum of seven (7) years in the Brown City school system who retire or resign with at least thirty (30) sick days accumulated shall receive Thirty ($30.00) Dollars for each accumulated sick day. The maximum days accumulated will be equal to the number of teaching days per school year.

Sick leave shall be charged to an employee on the basis of actual time absent (hour by hour). An employee who sustains a service related injury shall not be required to exhaust accumulated sick leave before being entitled to apply for benefits under Worker’s Compensation (subject to any requirements of Ohio law). In the event that the rate of sick leave is increased to the benefit of public employees or police officers by the Ohio legislature, employees shall earn sick leave in accordance with the new statutory requirement. Section 1: Sick Leave a) Leave of absence shall be granted at the rate of one hundred twenty (120) working hours per year accumulative to nine hundred sixty (960) hours. Upon retirement, voluntary termination after ten (10) years of service in the Department, or death, an employee or upon his death, the employee's spouse shall receive a lump sum payment equal to one hundred percent (100%) of his/her accumulated sick leave hours, not to exceed a total of nine hundred sixty (960) hours based upon an employee's salary at that time.

Sick leave shall be used based upon the last in, first out (LIFO) method. Employees shall have the option of cashing out the sick leave they earn in the year they earn it. To do so they must:
Section 1: Sick Leave. A. A full-time employee shall accumulate sick leave with pay credits at the rate of 9.375 hours for Unit members in Unit I and 10 hours for Unit members in Unit II for each full month of employment. The annual total shall be 112.50 hours for Unit members in Unit I and 120 hours for Unit members in Unit II. An employee on leave with pay (excluding an employee on an extension of sick leave in accordance with Article 12) shall accumulate sick leave credits.

Upon return to employment with the District, any former employee shall be credited with the balance of unused sick leave accumulated at the time of termination of his/her employment with the District, provided leave has not been transferred and used in another school district.
