Secretarial Employees. Vacancies shall be filled on the basis of experience, competency, qualifications, length of service in the District and other attributes identified by the Board. Internal candidates will be interviewed before external candidates. New hires shall be determined in the sole judgment of the Board and administration who shall have the final say on who is hired for the position. Secretarial employees will be permitted a satisfactory tryout period in a new position. Secretarial vacancies shall be posted, but if filled by an internal candidate, the internal candidate awarded the bid shall be advised within ten (10) work days, but may be assigned at the District’s discretion after a mutual agreement date between the administrators involved and at least ten (10) work days prior notice of the transfer date will be provided to the affected employees. The tryout for Secretarial employees will be 30 consecutive student days or working days as applies. Subsections (a), (b) and (c) of Article 12 shall apply to tryouts.

The standard work day shall consist of seven and one-half (7 ½) work hours, not including a one-half (1/2) hour unpaid lunch break which can be expanded to forty-five (45) minutes by foregoing a fifteen (15) minute afternoon break, with the approval of the Immediate Supervisor.

Secretarial Employees. Tuition reimbursement will be implemented for secretarial employees at the sum of $400 per year. Course reimbursement will be provided secretarial employees as it directly relates to professional duties and is (are) deemed to be of potential benefit to the District. Prior approval must be secured before payment shall be authorized. The Superintendent's decision is discretionary and non-grievable.

The employees shall contribute the sum of ten percent (10%) per month towards the cost of their health care coverage. In 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 each employee shall contribute 10% towards the total cost of the health insurance of their health care coverage. In 2012-2013, it shall be 15% per month and in 2013-2014, 20% per month each employee shall contribute towards the total cost of the health insurance cost. This amount shall be payroll deducted. The extent of benefits are, of course, based on each individual position as specified in the contract. The Employer shall not pay premium contributions toward coverage which is statutorily prohibited or could result in a penalty to the school district.
Secretarial Employees. 1. Whenever any action is brought against a secretarial employee before the Board or before the Commissioner of Education of the State of New Jersey which may affect the employee's employment or salary status, the Board of Education shall reimburse the employee for the cost of the defense if the action is dismissed or results in a final decision in favor of the employee.
