Seat Belt Use. The Recipient agrees to implement Executive Order No. 13043, “Increasing Seat Belt Use in the United States,” April 16, 1997, 23 U.S.C. § 402 note, (62 Fed. Reg. 19217), by:

Seat Belt Use. The Contractor is encouraged to adopt and promote on-the-job seat belt use policies and programs for its employees and other personnel that operate company-owned vehicles, company - owned vehicles, company - rented vehicles, or personally operated vehicles. The terms “company-owned” and “company- leased” refer to vehicles owned or leased either by the Contractor or WSDOT.

For information and resources on traffic safety programs and policies for employers, please contact the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS), a public-private partnership dedicated to improving the traffic safety practices of employers and employees. You can download information on seat belt programs, costs of motor vehicle crashes to employers, and other traffic safety initiatives at xxx.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxx. The NHTSA website (xxx.xxxxx.xxx) also provides information on statistics, campaigns, and program evaluations and references.
