Scientific cooperation. 1. During the period covered by the Agreement, the Community and Mauritania shall cooperate to monitor certain issues relating to the state of resources in Mauritanian fishing zones. To this end, an independent Joint Scientific Committee shall be set up. By mutual agreement between the Parties it may be opened by invitation to external scientists. The operating procedures of the Joint Scientific Committee, which shall meet at least once a year, shall be laid down by mutual agreement before the entry into force of this Agreement.
