School Librarians. 1. Each secondary school shall have a full-time certified librarian assigned, except where enrollment at the school is insufficient to warrant the full-time position.
School Librarians. Middle School librarians shall have an extended contract for the purpose of providing open libraries from the first day of school through the last day of school. This extended contract will be for eight (8) days. Four (4) days are to be used before the first day of the regular teaching contract and four (4) days after the last day of the regular teaching contract unless the staff member and his/her immediate supervisor agree otherwise. Pay for the eight (8) days shall be at the per diem rate of the librarian.
School Librarians. Librarians in charge of secondary school libraries who hold the degree of Bachelor Library Science, which requires one year of special library training after receipt of a Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree shall be placed on the Master's Degree salary level.
School Librarians. The appraisal process for school librarians uses a rubric based on the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) standards. The standards articulate how librarians curate relevant multi-media texts to support student learning, collaborate across disciplines, and encourage inquiry that includes diverse perspectives. The school library provides an interdisciplinary center where students and teachers explore connections across subjects, preparing them to engage in rich, responsible lives as citizens, workers, and scholars beyond the school (AASL, 2011).

School librarians shall be provided not less than five (5) days’ work at 2 the end of the school year through released time or supplemental days or combination 3 thereof to complete library closure activities.
