Common use of School Day Clause in Contracts

School Day. 1. It has been the policy of the School Committee not to stipulate the time teachers should arrive at school or at what time they should leave. It is agreed that teachers as professionals should be aware of their responsibility to be in their classrooms when their students arrive and their responsibility to be available to students for make-up work and special help when this is needed. The practice of handling this in a professional manner shall be continued.

It is agreed that teachers teachers, as professionals professionals, should be aware of their responsibility to be in their classrooms when their students arrive and of their responsibility to be available to students for make-up work and special help help, and for parent and SPED/IEP meetings when this is needed. The practice of handling this in a professional manner shall be continued. The length of the school day shall not be increased or decreased without mutual consent of the Association and the School Committee unless otherwise required by the State Department of Education.
