School Attendance. (a) Employees hired as journeyman apprentices shall attend school and progress to ninety- five percent (95%) of the qualified journeyman's rate provided that their progress meets the criteria established by the Joint Training Committee that they meet the Company's standards and pass CATV school exams. Progression beyond this point will be subject to the criteria outlined in Article 14.02. Apprentices have the right to a review of any decision by the J.T.C. to hold up their progression. Such reviews shall be conducted by committees composed of one (1) person appointed by the Company and one (1) person appointed by the Union. Such decisions are final and binding on the employees, the Company, and the Union. Where the reviewing committees do not reach majority decisions, the matter will be referred to a single person arbitrator.

School Attendance. The Employer agrees to provide a leave of absence to apprentices for the appropriate time periods to attend school in conjunction with the apprenticeship training program. Apprentices will suffer no loss of wages or other benefits while attending school.
School Attendance. An apprentice who attends school, will receive a bonus of $800 for each completed session where the apprentice is not allowed to make up time spent in school. This bonus would be eliminated in the event the Employment Insurance Commission eliminates payment to apprentices for time spent in school. In this event, the Company will provide alternate working arrangements to allow apprentices to attend day release or block programs while maintaining the opportunity of working regular hours or the Company will provide payment for such period, up to 80% of their regular earnings. This bonus will only be paid to those individuals who return to full time work with the Company and remain in the apprenticeship training program The Company will reimburse apprentices for tuition and required books of the apprenticeship program upon successful completion of the module. When the apprentice has signed their contract for apprenticeship they will receive a one time allowance of $250 for the purchase of trade related items. This will not affect their normal tool allowance.

If and when the government withdraws Employment Insurance Benefits, the Company and the Union will meet and discuss the matter. The Company and the Union will establish a related progressive training schedule for the apprentices similar to that recommended by the Unifor Apprenticeship Standards, offering full exposure to all aspects of the Apprentices Trade. The Company will co-operate with the apprentices in their efforts to attend such courses. School Attendance. All student-athletes are expected to have satisfactory school attendance. They are expected to be in attendance ALL DAY the “day ofthe competition. In case of Saturday competition, they are expected to be in attendance ALL DAY the “day before” competition. Any absence during the day will make the student ineligible for competition for the day of absence or the next day with Saturday contest. An absence is considered to be ten (10) or more minutes late for a class. Any exceptions shall be administratively approved by the principal or athletic director prior to the absence. Repeated absences the day after an event shall be considered a chronic minor violation.
