Satisfactory Academic Progress. Recipients are expected to maintain satisfactory academic progress. For full policy details, please see our “Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy” located on the student portal under Financial Services>Financial Aid Policies. If a student would be eligible for Federal/State aid based on academic credentials, they will be eligible for institutional aid. Students on Financial Aid/Academic Suspension will have institutional aid removed from their financial aid package. In addition, recipients of Academic scholarships must maintain the required academic progress for the specific scholarships as described later in this policy.

Satisfactory Academic Progress. Financial Aid Offices establish standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in accordance with federal regulations (34 Code of Federal Regulations Section 668.34), which may vary from college to college. To be eligible for Financial Aid, students within the OEI Exchange must meet or exceed these standards in accordance with the Home College SAP policy. Failure to maintain these standards may result in loss of financial aid eligibility. The standards apply to all financial aid recipients and to all college coursework taken including coursework taken from outside colleges if that coursework has been submitted and appears on the transcript. Financial Aid funds will be disbursed to students who are in compliance with the Home College’s Satisfactory Academic Progress guidelines. Return of Title IV Funds (R2T4) Federal Title IV financial aid funds are awarded under the assumption that a student will remain in attendance for the entire semester for which the funds were awarded. Students who withdraw from all courses prior to completing more than 60% of the semester will have their financial aid eligibility recalculated based on the percentage of the semester completed and will be required to pay any unearned financial aid they may have received in accordance with Return to Title IV guidelines as mandated by the U.S. Department of Education. The calculation for the Return of Title IV Funds (R2T4), notification to the student and any return of any funds, will be the responsibility of the student’s designated Home College.

Classes in which grades of “A”, “B”, “C”, “D” or “CR” are earned will be considered completed. Repeated courses were already counted as completed and will not be counted twice. All attempted credit hours from any college (including non- degree hours) are counted whether or not financial aid was received. This calculation includes all hours in which a student is registered at the time of withdrawal. Remedial classes and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are also counted as attempted credit hours. Courses taken for Audit are not counted in the student’s total course load for purposes of financial aid eligibility. For graduate students, 100- and 200-level classes count as hours attempted, but not hours earned, because they will not count toward the completion of a graduate degree. Maximum Time Frame. Undergraduate students must complete their program of study within 150% of the published length of the program, measured in credit hours attempted. Example: if the published length of the academic program is 66 credits, the maximum time frame for completion is 99 attempted credits. All attempted credit hours from any college, including non-degree hours, and hours attempted in completing a prior certificate or degree will count toward the maximum allowable credits regardless of whether financial aid was received. Courses with assigned grades of “F”, “WF”, “W”, “WP”, “I”, “NC” and repeated courses all count as attempted credit hours. Satisfactory Academic Progress. SAP Measurement Provisions ● All NewU students must maintain SAP as measured against both qualitative and quantitative standards. · Students who fail to meet published progress standards will be placed on warning, probation, or be dismissed. Any move to/from a status must result in notification to the student in writing, whether by email or standard post. · All credit hours attempted at NewU are counted in the evaluation of SAP in the student’s current program, except for the Military Withdrawal (MW) grade. · Prior learning credits are counted in the evaluation of SAP for the purposes of maximum time frame (MTF), but are not counted in the CGPA calculation. Therefore, every student will automatically be evaluated at the end of each academic year. Transfer Credit, Change of Credentials, Additional Credentials and Associated Courses: ● Transfer Credits (TC/EC/CC) are used in the calculation of Maximum Time Frame (MTF). ● For terms beginning prior to July 1, 2011, transfer Credits (TC/EC/CC) are not used in the rate of progress calculation of earned vs. attempted credit (E/A). For terms beginning on or after July 1, 2011, transfer credits are used in the rate of progress calculation of earned vs. attempted credit (E/A). ● When students change from one NewU program to another NewU program, any course taken in the previous program that counts toward the completion of graduation requirements in the new program will have all previous credits attempted and grades earned included in the new program SAP determination.
