Salary Placement and Entry. Lateral Incentive‌ Employees occupying a position in the competitive service shall be paid a salary or wage within the range established for that position's classification as set forth in Exhibit "A" for the appropriate anniversary date of promotion or appointment. The minimum rate for the classification shall apply to employees upon original appointment of the position, except in cases of lateral entry. For the purpose of this Section a “lateral entry appointment” shall be defined as a person who has completed the probationary period as an Assistant Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, or similar equivalent classification in a paid organized Fire Department or transfers from another agency. The Fire Chief may recommend to the Director of Human Resources and City Manager that a lateral appointment be made at a salary step or pay schedule range above the entry pay rate that is commensurate with the appointee’s years of service as an Assistant Fire Chief or Fire Marshal with a paid organized Fire Department.

Lateral entry appointment may be made for the classification of Fire Fighter, including Fire Fighter Paramedic, only. The Fire Chief may recommend to the Director of Human Resources and City Manager that a lateral entry appointment be made at a salary step or pay schedule above the entry level that is commensurate with the appointee’s years of service as a sworn firefighter with a paid organized Fire Department.

  • Salary Placement Entry-level placement on the salary schedule shall be at the lowest step of the schedule for the classification or at the hourly rate established for the classification, unless the District authorizes hiring at a higher rate.

  • Salary Schedule Placement 1. Credit hours for the purpose of placement on the salary schedule shall be defined as those semester hour credits earned for graduate courses that are within the teacher’s present certification or a planned program leading to additional areas of teacher certification, guidance or administration. Upon approval of the Superintendent, any other courses, graduate or undergraduate may be certified for proper placement on the salary schedule.
