Fire safety drills will acquaint all members of the school community with a knowledge of exiting the building quietly and orderly in case of a fire or other emergency. Lockdown safety drills will acquaint all students with the procedure for responding to a crisis in a safe manner. It is the expectation of the school that all students comply with the safety directives or receive the logical consequences. GUIDANCE AND MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT Catholic education has always focused on “educating the whole child,” and Mater Christi School’s Guidance Department supports students in their social/emotional growth and development by working with individual students, small groups, and classes at school. The school’s aim is to support each student to become a well-integrated individual intellectually, emotionally, socially, athletically, morally, and spiritually. Toward this end, the school’s Guidance Counselor works in partnership with parents, teachers, staff, administrators, and mental health professionals outside of our school community (when necessary) in the formation of our students. If your child requires more specialized support from our school clinician than our school can provide (this may mean mins/week or level/intensity of service), a meeting may be arranged with the family and, in partnership with the family, we may seek more extensive services beyond the scope of what the school provides.
