Room Assignments. A. The University draws students from many states, nations, races and religions. It will be the responsibility of each resident to respect the rights of all residents in university residence halls. Admission to Texas A&M University – Texarkana and any of its sponsored programs is open to qualified individuals regardless of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, or disability. Room and roommate assignments are made without regard to race, color, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.
Room Assignments. A. UNT assigns roommates without regard to race, religion, or national origin. Priority of assignment will typically be based on the dated Housing Application and will factor in Student sex, classification, and roommate age ranges as possible. Changes in room assignments may only be made with the approval of the Assignments Office or the Community Director.

While housing assignments are generally made between students of the same gender, gender inclusive housing assignments are available by request. With our responsibilities and commitment assured, housing matches are based on responses to the personal information questions in MyHousing. The university will make room assignments in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended, and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Students are assured that the accommodations will be provided in a non-discriminatory manner, be comparable, convenient, and accessible, and will be at or less than the cost assigned to other students. Students who receive housing accommodations as the result of a disability will not be subject to additional fees that may be associated with such amenities when they are provided to students who are not disabled. Current residents must participate in the HOST process to reserve housing for the following fall/spring. Residents will be given the opportunity to select rooms/suites/apartments for fall/spring by agreeing to the terms and conditions of the housing agreement in MyHousing and following the HOST procedure published and posted by the Office of Residence Life. New students must pay an admission deposit which includes reserving space in a residence hall/suite/campus apartment. All new freshmen are required to live on campus for their first two semesters (if admitted for fall) or spring semester only (if admitted for spring) unless they are over 20 years of age or are commuting from the home of their parent...

First-year, graduate, and transfer student room assignments will be made according to the date that the applicant’s contract and/or prepayment is received. Assignments for returning/continuing students are made according to the housing application process specifications given at the time of contract issuance. Room changes are permitted based on space availability.
Room Assignments a. This Contract is for an assigned space in a residence hall and not for a specific room or bed. This Contract is not a lease agreement. It is a license for the use of an on-campus residence as assigned by the University.

Generally, Student may request to live with a designated student based on a self-selection process. In this instance, Student preference profiles may be considered by Student but will not be considered by University. If Student does not self-select a room space, University will assign a space to the Student. Alternatively, University may try to match roommates based on Student preference profiles. In any case, University cannot guarantee requested preferences in the room assignment process. University may assign or reassign Student without regard to requested preferences to a specific hall, room or roommate.
