REST DAY AFTER 12 CONSECUTIVE DAYS OF WORK. SUEZ is committed to safe systems of work. This clause is intended to mitigate factors that contribute to fatigue by way of minimizing excessive continuous overtime. Supervisors and/or Managers will make every endeavour to ensure adequate rest and leisure time for employees. Any employee that is required to work any combination of ordinary hours and/or overtime for more than 12 consecutive days will be paid penalty rates for all time worked in excess of 12 days until the employee is allowed a full day of rest. Prior authorization is required before an employee is permitted to work for any number of hours in excess of 12 consecutive days. Employees must make their supervisor aware prior to this situation arising so all parties are able to schedule work to avoid this situation. Should the employees PDO balance be greater than 2 days, then a PDO would be taken unless a PDO had already been scheduled in the next month to bring the balance below 2, otherwise the day would be paid. For the avoidance of doubt, if Monday is the 13th day of continuous days worked. Monday is paid at penalty rates. If the next day is provided as a rest day, then the Tuesday forms part of your contracted ordinary hours and so is paid at single time. If Friday is the 12th day of working in a row and you are rostered to work the Saturday but told you are not required (rest day), you are not paid for the Saturday as it is not part of your ordinary 38 hours.

  • Consecutive Hours of Work The daily hours of work for each employee shall be consecutive.
