Rest Breaks and Meal Periods. 1. Employees will be allowed two (2) fifteen (15) minutes paid rest periods each day; one (1) period before and one (1) period after the lunch break. The rest periods will be scheduled at the middle of each one-half (1/2) shift or as close thereto as is feasible.
Rest Breaks and Meal Periods for those employees assigned to work eight (8) or ten (10) hour shifts, they shall be allowed two fifteen minute breaks and one half hour meal period. Employees shall be subject to call to respond to non-scheduled work duties which arise during such rest breaks and meal periods and which require immediate attention. Employees assigned to work twelve (12) hour rotating shifts shall be allowed two fifteen minute rest breaks and two forty minute meal periods per shift, but said employees are subject to call to respond to non-scheduled work duties arising during the breaks and meal periods.
Rest Breaks and Meal Periods. On any day in which you are scheduled to work more than 5 hours you will have an unpaid meal period of at least 30 minutes in length. If you should work more than 10 hours in a day, you will be entitled to a second meal break, in accordance with California law. You will also be authorized and permitted to take ten-minute paid rest breaks according to applicable state law. Training: On training days meal periods and rest breaks will be taken according to a pre-set schedule. Teaching: On teaching days in which you teach multiple classes spanning a period greater than 5 hourse, you will generally have gaps between classes of 30-60 minutes. During one gap of 45 minutes or more we expect you to spend 30 minutes on your off-duty meal period. We also expect 10 minutes of one or two of these gaps to be spent on paid rest breaks. Please check with your supervisor for clarification as to how to allocate time between classes if you have questions about this.

For nurses working eight (8) hours, the meal period 6 must be started by the end of the fifth (5th) hour of work. For nurses 7 working ten (10) or twelve (12) hours, the meal period must be 8 started by the end of the sixth (6th) hour of work. Nurses agree to 9 communicate to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Coordinator or House 10 Supervisor in a timely manner if they anticipate not being able to take 11 a meal period. Nurses may combine two (2) consecutive rest breaks, 12 if staffing permits, on ten (10) or twelve (12) hour shifts (this is not 13 considered a meal period and may not replace the designated meal 14 period). If no meal period is provided by the Medical Center the nurse 15 will complete the appropriate payroll notification process and will be 16 paid for the missed meal period.
