Reserve Deputies. The Sheriff shall have the right to designate reserve deputies as in the past. Such reserves shall perform such duties as may be assigned to them by the Sheriff from time to time. The uniform of reserves will have a patch and badge that designates the officer as a reserve. Reserves are not covered by this Agreement and they shall have no rights under this Agreement, and shall not be subject to any of its terms and conditions. Reserves may be assigned duties from time to time by the Sheriff as in the past, and such assignments shall not in any way violate the terms and conditions of any provisions of this Agreement. The POAM agrees that neither it nor any of its members can file any grievance in connection with the activities of such reserves with the exception of the following two conditions: (1) reserves shall at all times work under the supervision and direction of bargaining unit members as defined by Article I, Section 1.1 of this Agreement, or under the direction and supervision of COAM (Command Officers) members of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. The supervising bargaining unit member must be physically present with the reserve; (2) a bargaining unit member as defined in section 1.1 of this Agreement may, for good and just cause, refuse a duty assignment with a reserve. The Sheriff or his designated representative shall investigate any such refusal and if such investigation reveals that such refusal was not for good and just cause, the Sheriff shall have the right to discipline such bargaining unit member. A member may contest such imposed discipline pursuant to the provisions of Article IV of this Agreement.

Reserve Deputies. Reserve Deputies shall be additional law enforcement officers who are hired and supervised by the Comal County Sheriff’s Office. Reserve Deputies shall be certified by the State of Texas as peace officers or as reserve peace officers and commissioned accordingly. While on duty under the terms of this Agreement, Reserve Deputies shall be compensated at the rate of $46.32 per hour (includes salary, FICA, worker’s compensation insurance, unemployment compensation, and supplies) up to a maximum of $85,000, including vehicle expense listed below in 2.04 (C.). In the event regular law enforcement deputies are needed to fulfill this portion of the contract, they will be compensated at the rates outlined in Section 2.04 (A) above and the total number of allowable hours for 2.04 (A) and (B) may be combined to meet this need.

Reserve Deputies. Reserve Deputies shall not perform the duties of a Patrol Deputy with the exception of traffic control or security assignments associated with special events, marine, search, or other assignments to which Reserve Deputies have historically been assigned. Any non-marine, search or other emergency responses by Reserve Deputies will only be performed under the supervision of a certified, full-time officer. Reserve Deputies shall not be allowed to fill any overtime vacancy for which qualified Patrol Deputies are available. Qualified Patrol Deputies will be offered all overtime according to the overtime procedure. The provisions set forth in this article are subject to an exception only when there is an emergency declared by the Sheriff.
Reserve Deputies. The parties agree that reserve deputies will be used by the Sheriff pursuant to Title 7, Chapter 32, Part 2, MCA, provided, however, that reserve deputies will not be used to displace a Regular status Employee. The Sheriff’s Reserve Officers will be considered a separate entity of the Sheriff’s Office and not subject to the terms of the collective bargaining Agreement. Contracts administered by the Reserves will not be subject to any of the pay or scheduling provisions of this collective bargaining Agreement. Reserve deputies may request the assistance of a sworn officer in the event that the reserve deputies are unable to fulfill their obligations. Reserves will make requests for assistance to the Sheriff or shift officer in charge. The Sheriff or officer in charge will fill such requests on a first come first served basis and without regard to seniority.
Reserve Deputies. A. The Xxxxxxxx County Sheriff’s Office and the Union/Association acknowledge that the Sheriff has the authority to activate Reserve Deputies based on the needs of the Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office agrees that Reserve Deputies will not be utilized in order to displace employees covered by this Agreement. They may, however, be assigned to work at times when all employees covered by this Agreement have declined the opportunity for overtime assignments.

  • Reserve Duty A leave of absence will be granted to reservists for training purposes not to exceed fifteen (15) days per calendar year. Employees shall make application on the Leave of Absence Form to the Human Resources Department and shall enclose a copy of their military order. Leaves for training purposes are granted without loss of pay, but employees are encouraged to make arrangements to take these training periods during winter, spring, or summer recess.
