Research Leaves. 20.12.1 A librarian on an appointment of at least half-time who is not yet eligible for a first sabbatical leave may be granted short-term professional leave after two years of service to the University at half-time or more. Such leave may be of varying duration, not to exceed two months within any two-year period. In the event a librarian’s appointments since date of hire reflect varying percentage of appointment, such leave shall be granted on the basis of average percentage of appointment since initial hire. Such leave shall be approved by the Chancellor, based upon a proposal that clearly demonstrates the benefit to be gained by the University from the librarian’s exposure to new ideas, skills, and practices. Six months of service upon return shall be required; a librarian who fails to fulfill the service obligation shall be required to repay the University the salary paid during the leave.

Research Leaves. In each year of the collective agreement 2020-2021, 2021-2022, and 2022-2023 an annual Research Leave Fund will be maintained at a value of the equivalent of 9 type 1 positions to provide up to three Research Leaves in each of those contract years for employees meeting the eligibility criteria for the Affirmative Action (“Conversion”) Pool. For one of the Research Leaves starting in 2012-13 priority will be given to assist an employee in the completion of their PhD. In addition to the above the Employer will award a Research Leave open to all members of the bargaining unit. Employees receiving a Research Leave may teach up to a maximum of 1 type 1 position or its equivalent during the leave. Applications will be reviewed on a competitive basis by the Research Leave Adjudicating Committee, consisting of three full- time faculty members, including a designate of the Associate Vice-President Research, and a supporting Committee secretary. There will also be a non-voting CUPE 3903 participant/observer on the Committee. Research Leave applications shall consist of the following:
Research Leaves. The purpose of the research leave is to allow employees in the CDC with continuing status to xxxxxx relationships with peers in other locations; to learn new research skills and techniques; or to take advantage of equipment, data, or research expertise available in these locations. The Director must make arrangements to ensure that research programs continue during research leaves, and each leave must be judged to result in the employee becoming more effective in research.

  • Research Use The Requester agrees that if access is approved, (1) the PI named in the DAR and (2) those named in the “Senior/Key Person Profile” section of the DAR, including the Information Technology Director and any trainee, employee, or contractor1 working on the proposed research project under the direct oversight of these individuals, shall become Approved Users of the requested dataset(s). New uses of these data outside those described in the DAR will require submission of a new DAR; modifications to the research project will require submission of an amendment to this application (e.g., adding or deleting Requester Collaborators from the Requester, adding datasets to an approved project). Access to the requested dataset(s) is granted for a period of one (1) year, with the option to renew access or close-out a project at the end of that year. Submitting Investigator(s), or their collaborators, who provided the data or samples used to generate controlled-access datasets subject to the NIH GDS Policy and who have Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval and who meet any other study specific terms of access, are exempt from the limitation on the scope of the research use as defined in the DAR.

  • Research Support opioid abatement research that may include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Study Leave Credits for study leave will be given for educational commitments falling due between an employee's nominated starting and finishing times.

  • Research Project 3.1 These Materials and Data will be used by Recipient's PI solely in connection with the Research Project, as named and described in the attached research application (insert Research Project name below):

  • Research, Science and Technology Cooperation 1.   • Research Design The data generated by excavations at the prehistoric site(s) will be used to examine at least three topics: (1) chronology; (2) technology; and (3) subsistence practices. Insights into changing patterns of community organization may also be granted, as may insights into changes in social organization. The data recovered will then be compared to data from other regional sites.
