Research Assistant. Is an Employee hired to perform work in the context of carrying out research activities and whose duties and tasks may include, but are not limited to, the performance of clerical, laboratory or technical tasks.
Research Assistant. Research assistants will be placed on the AC pay scale based on their master's degree or a bachelor's degree followed by a PhD program. For research assistants with a bachelor's degree and a subsequent PhD program, it is agreed that, for scientific university positions, they are placed at step 5 on the AC pay scale; a special pensionable qualification-based supplement is then granted in the first year of the appointment in the amount of DKK 20,500 (31.3.2012). After the first year of the appointment, the supplement increases to DKK 40,500 (31.3.2012). For the entire period of the appointment, the supplement is granted for special qualifications acquired through the research training program. If the research assistant has relevant work experience that can justify a year’s seniority, s/he can be granted the high supplement from the start of the appointment. For both placements, a qualification-based supplement of DKK 19,700 can be granted (31.3.2012) based on prerequisites acquired prior to the appointment (e.g. a PhD degree) based on or performance beyond what is normally expected/special qualifications in research, dissemination and teaching. In special cases, a one-off bonus can be granted for exceptional achievement or performance beyond what is normally expected.

The supplement may be paid out in smaller sums of DKK 5,000 and up to a total of DKK 30,000.

Research Assistant. A graduate student employed for a defined period, on an hourly basis, to perform duties assigned by a faculty member that contribute to a faculty member’s research program and that are not required as part of the student’s academic program. Duties associated with being a Research Assistant may include but are not limited to: research, preparing reports, writing papers, laboratory support, literature/library research, administrative tasks and provision of other research support and assistance.

RA research duties vary across departments and projects, are defined by the faculty member who serves as principal investigator, and are thus administered independently by each department and/or investigator. The University and the Union acknowledge that due to the nature of research and education in the sciences, the research being conducted by an RA on behalf of a principal investigator may also be, in whole or in part, in furtherance of the Graduate Student Employee’s thesis. Normally the time devoted to being an RA should not exceed a maximum of 20 hours per week, unless the research being conducted is integral to the RA’s academic research.

Research Assistant. This person(s) shall have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Anthropology or History, as appropriate for the assignment, or related fields, with four (4) months experience in research methods and practices; and products and activities that demonstrate the successful application of acquired proficiencies in research. Duties may include, but are not limited to: conducting detailed examinations of military records for availability of pertinent information; investigating missing, conflicting, or erroneous data; and summarizing findings in concise, understandable language.

The amount of time spent on their dissertation research is an academic matter at the discretion of the graduate student in respectful and frequent consultation with their advisor. Appointments are made by the Graduate School on the basis of departmental recommendations.
Research Assistant. These persons have a university degree and are starting a career in research. They collaborate with the researchers or collaborating researchers on research activities associated with the various projects.
