Research and Scholarly Activities. 18.2.5.1 Each Member shall be entitled to and shall be expected to engage in and to have time available for research, scholarly, and creative activities. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of the Member to make the results of such work accessible to the University, the scholarly community, and general public through publication, conference presentations, lectures, public concerts or performances, and other appropriate means.
Research and Scholarly Activities. AUArts' research and scholarly activities directly align with the Alberta Research and Innovation Framework's outcome of economic diversification and job creation, while stimulating bold ideas and actions from innovators, industry and entrepreneurs. Strategically working toward enabling innovation and experimentation through teaching, applied and scholarly research, and creative activities. Faculty conduct research, innovation and scholarly activities and in doing so share their evolving knowledge with their students. AUArts students and faculty generate the highest volume of intellectual property rights and copyrights for an Alberta post-secondary institution, as each artist holds intellectual property rights and copyrights for each artwork created.
Research and Scholarly Activities. The Mount Royal University learning community strives for excellence through the nexus of scholarly teaching and diverse research with a strong emphasis on liberal education in an undergraduate context. Our faculty pursue research and scholarship to advance and apply knowledge as well as to enhance the quality of teaching through thoughtful integration of research and scholarship into the tenure of all students. Mount Royal values research and scholarship across the full spectrum of creative, disciplinary, interdisciplinary, professional and applied realms. Mount Royal is committed to community-based research and strongly values partnerships with Indigenous communities. Research and scholarship at Mount Royal is enhanced through the leadership of its institutes and centres. The research capacity is augmented through the acquisition of external grants, scholarly partnerships and the growth of research chairs. Mount Royal values the quality and impact of scholarly activity over purely quantitative counts of output.
Research and Scholarly Activities. Portage College encourages applied research focusing on improvement of rural education, and supports scholarly activity strengthening our understanding of rural communities. Portage College embraces every opportunity to collaborate with communities when conducting research identifying economic development and learning needs.
Research and Scholarly Activities. Northern Lakes College is not actively engaged in discovery research however, a number of our faculty and staff have undertaken research initiatives that focus on our model of teaching and learning specifically to provide insight into how we can better serve our students through active engagement in a distance-learning environment. We have assisted a number of other institutions in their research endeavours.

The broad campus community undertakes scholarly enquiry that benefits the city, the region, the province, the country, and the world beyond. The University aims to provide students and academic staff the background to engage fully the economic and social challenges of a changing world. Scholarship is guided by the oversight of a standing committee of General Faculties Council. MacEwan seeks to build upon existing strengths across all our Faculties and Schools, as well as scholarship rooted in the early work of faculty members who helped the institution emerge as a University, bolstered further by new colleagues whose appointments across campus feed a culture of teacher-scholars committed to research and creative activity inside and outside the classroom. In identifying future research directions, MacEwan University is mindful of government priorities for advances to be made in the environment, health, and resource management.
