Requests/Approval. Requests for vacation leave during a calendar year may be submitted in writing between November 1 and December 31 of the preceding year in accordance with the request procedure established by the Employer. Any request for vacation for the following year made by December 31, and made with at least fourteen (14) days advance notice, will be approved and scheduled in accordance with the work load requirements of the Employer on the basis of seniority. Beginning January 1 of each year, vacation requests, comp time requests, personal day requests, and holiday comp time requests, will be approved and scheduled in accordance with the work load requirements of the Employer on a first-come, first-served basis, but shall not be unreasonably denied. The bargaining unit and the employer mutually recognize the importance of maintaining two road patrol officers on-duty for community and officer safety, therefore, any time off request that would result in one road patrol officer on-duty may be denied. Additionally, special details, investigations, and community events may require additional staffing, therefore, the employer may deny time off requests that would interfere with those activities. If two (2) or more employees request vacation leave simultaneously, and the Employer is not able to grant vacation leave to all those making such requests, the employee with the greatest seniority will be granted such request.
Requests/Approval. All requests to attend work related conferences or workshops shall be made through and approved by the College.
