Common use of Relationships of the Parties Clause in Contracts

Relationships of the Parties. It is expressly understood that Contractor and Purchaser intend by this Contract to establish the relationship of independent contractors only, and do not intend to undertake the relationship of principal and agent or to create a joint venture or partnership or any other relationship, other than that of independent contractors, between them or their respective successors in interests. Neither Contractor nor Purchaser shall have any authority to create or assume, in the name or on behalf of the other Party, any obligation, expressed or implied, or to act or purport to act as the agent or the legally empowered representative of the other Party, for any purpose whatsoever.
