Reduced Workload Program. 19.1 Reduced teaching Load with Full Retirement Credit (EC 87483): The Board of Trustees may permit full-time faculty members to reduce their workload from full-time to part-time and have their retirement benefits based upon full-time employment. Following are the rules and regulations for the implementation of the optional reduced load program with full retirement credit.
Reduced Workload Program. Unit Members may participate in the Reduced Workload Program as set forth in this Article. The Reduced Workload Program allows a full-time faculty member of CalSTRS to reduce his/her workload from full-time to part-time duties and receive the service credit the Unit Member would have received if the Unit Member were employed on a full-time basis and have his/her retirement allowance as well as health benefits in the same manner as if employed on a full-time basis. It is the intent of the parties that this program be carried out in compliance with Education Code Section 87483.

Reduced Workload Program. The County Office of Education may allow certificated staff who are members of the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS), the ability to reduce their workload from full-time service to at least half-time (1/2)
Reduced Workload Program. The District has established, and will continue to implement, a pre-retirement reduced workload program that will allow partial employment for full-time Faculty Members approaching retirement and will provide an incentive for those who may choose to retire early under the appropriate Education Code provisions. The Reduced Workload Program allows a full-time faculty member of CalSTRS to reduce his/her workload from full-time to part-time duties and receive the service credit the Unit Member would have received if the Unit Member were employed on a full-time basis and have his/her retirement allowance as well as health benefits in the same manner as if employed on a full-time basis. It is the intent of the parties that this program be carried out in compliance with the Education Code Sections 20815, 22713, 87483 and any other applicable laws.
Reduced Workload Program. An academic employee will be allowed to reduce his or her workload from full-time to part-time pursuant to Education Code section 87483 and to maintain retirement benefits pursuant to Education Code section 22713 or Government Code section 20815. Statutory requirements are as follows: The employee shall have reached the age of 55 prior to the reduction of his or her workload; The employee shall have been employed in an academic position or a position requiring certification qualification, or both, for at least 10 years, of which the immediately preceding five years were full-time employment without a break in service, except as provided by Education Code section 87483(c); The option of part-time employment shall be exercised at the request of the employee and can be revoked only with the mutual consent of the District and the employee; The employee shall be paid a salary that is the pro rata share of the salary he or she would be earning had he or she not elected to exercise the option of part-time employment; The employee shall retain all other rights to and benefits for which he or she makes the payments that would be required had he or she remained in full-time employment; The employee shall receive health benefits as provided in Government Code section 53201 in the same manner as a full-time employee; The minimum part-time employment shall be the equivalent of one- half of the number of days of service required by the employee’s employment during his or her final year in a full-time position; The period of part-time employment for an employee who is subject to Education Code section 22713 shall not exceed 10 years; and The period of part-time employment for an employee who is subject to Government Code section 20815 shall not exceed 5 years and shall not extend beyond the end of the college year during which the employee reaches his or her 70th birthday.

Reduced Workload Program. 11.1 In accordance with provisions of Education Code Section 87483, faculty may, when approved by the District, reduce their workload from full-time to part-time and receive credit for retirement as if employed on a full-time basis, if the following conditions are met:
Reduced Workload Program. 24100 The District established the regulations below in accordance with the 1974 amendment to the Education Code, sections 44922 and 22724 that will allow unit members to reduce their workload from full-time to part-time duties, thereby permitting part-time unit members to have retirement benefits based on full-time employment. Unit members who start the program may continue until completing five (5) years of participation, but not beyond the year in which the seventieth (70th) birthday falls. 24200 Regulations 24210 The District and the unit member will make the contribution required by full-time unit members to the State Teachers Retirement System. 24220 The unit member must have reached the age of fifty-five (55). 24230 The unit member must have been employed full-time in positions requiring certification for at least ten (10) years, of which the immediately preceding five (5) years were full-time employment. 24240 The option of part-time employment can be exercised at the request of the unit member with the agreement of the District and can be revoked only with the mutual consent of the District and unit member. 24250 The unit member shall be paid a salary that is the prorated share of the salary the unit member would be earning had the unit member not elected to exercise the option of part-time employment, but shall retain all other rights and benefits for which the unit member makes the payments that would be required if the unit member remained in full-time employment. 24251 The unit member shall receive health and dental benefits as provided other full-time unit members by the District and by law. 24260 The minimum part-time employment shall be the equivalent of one-half of the number of days of service required by the unit member's contract of employment during the unit member's final year of service in a full-time position. If partial day employment is requested, compensation shall be based on a minimum of 525 teaching hours per year. 24270 STRS regulations shall be followed. 24280 Sick leave shall vary directly to the proportion of full-time employment. 24300 Procedure 24310 The Superintendent or his/her designee will be requested to review the program with interested parties early in the school year. 24320 Unit members interested in participating in the program shall apply by letter to the Superintendent prior to April 15 of the preceding year. Elementary unit members, with the exception of Special Education teachers who are working at an elementary site, have to work either .6 or .5. To be eligible the employee must meet the eligibility rules of Education Code 44922: must be at least age 55 by their first workday of 2012/13, must have a minimum of 10 years retirement service credit, and have a minimum of 5 consecutive years of full-time employment immediately preceding the reduction in workload, with no break in service during those years; approved leaves of absences do not constitute a break in service. Eligible individuals must submit a letter of intent to participate in the Reduced Workload Program to the Human Resources Office by April 13, 2012. OR
