Recess Duty. In schools where there are two or more teacher assistants and where outside recess is scheduled, and where the principal determines that all teacher assistants are not needed for recess duty, the recess duties of the teacher assistants shall be rotated.
Recess Duty. Aides may be required to perform recess duty without the presence of certificated personnel. If aides believe they have been subject to an unfair amount of duty, they may seek a remedy through the grievance procedure.
Recess Duty. Noon recess duty shall be considered to be a part of the teacher’s primary contract and teachers will be assigned such duty on a rotating basis by the building principal at no additional compensation.
Recess Duty. If teachers are assigned duty, then administrators will schedule teachers for recess duty on a rotating basis according to the following prioritized criteria:
Recess Duty. The paraprofessional shall not be required to assume recess duty. The paraprofessional shall not be required to assist the certified teacher during recess duty unless directed by the building administrator.
Recess Duty. Recess duty at the elementary level will involve the assignment of one teacher at a time, and at the administration’s discretion may involve the assignment of two teachers at a time, to supervise children on the playground, etc. The supervising teacher’s duties will include assisting any teacher assistants who are present as needed, and being visible and present on the playground.
Recess Duty. Student supervision responsibilities shall be limited to 5 hours per general education unit member per year.
Recess Duty. All recess duty assignments shall be equally rotated between all Instructional Assistants by site. Special Education Instructional Assistants shall be included in the rotation when appropriate. The number of Instructional Assistants needed for recess duty on any day will be decided by the site principal. The rotation schedule shall be posted at each site. Three staff development days are included in 165 work days. If the Instructional Assistants are not included in the certificated staff development program, a committee composed of equal representatives of the District and CSEA will be convened to design a staff development program for Instructional Assistants. Employees are encouraged to keep abreast of new developments, techniques, methods, materials, and equipment related to their job and to extend their abilities. So as to prepare staff to support students in a variety of learning settings, classified staff who directly support students and teachers in the classroom setting will be included one of the August Professional Development days and in the Fall Professional Development Day identified on the adopted school calendar. This will apply to the following positions: • Instructional Assistant-I • Instructional Assistant-II • Instructional Assistant-III • Literacy Intervention Assistant • Instructional Assistant Music/ELD The work year would be 182 days for these positions.
Recess Duty. Middlefork first, second, and third grade teachers shall be scheduled to supervise one recess per week as part of their teaching responsibilities, however a second supervision may be added under extenuating circumstances. Any additional recess duty beyond a second supervision, excluding inclement weather recess supervision, is payable at the daily stipend rate.
