Reassignment of Laid Off Employees Sample Clauses

Reassignment of Laid Off Employees. Employees who displaced within the same classification from full time to part-time or intermittent status in a layoff, or who voluntarily reduced their work hours to reduce the impact of layoff, or who accepted a position of another status than that from which they were laid off upon referral from the layoff list, may request reassignment back to their pre-layoff status (full time or part-time or increased hours). The request must be in writing in accord with each department's reassignment bid or selection process. The most senior laid off employee in this status who requests such a reassignment will be selected for the vacancy; except when a more senior laid off individual remains on the layoff list and has not been appointed back to the class from which laid off, a referral from the layoff list will be made to fill the vacancy.
