Reasons for Recommendation. Reasons for Approval of Agreement In 2019, the Administrative Space Planning Committee approved Space Request No. 1025 to create a CAC at 000 X’Xxxxxx Xxxxxx that would consolidate the following services at one location: • Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) services for children • Forensic Medical Evaluation of Child Abuse • Children's Interview Center • Victim Advocacy • Mental Health Services for Child Victims of Abuse and their families These services are currently provided at various locations throughout the County and families are required to travel to different locations for forensic medical examinations, forensic child interviews, victim advocacy, mental health services, appointments with police agencies, and meetings with the Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS). The goal of the CAC stakeholders is to bring these critical services and providers together under one roof so that child victims do not need to travel to multiple locations to access them; the model of co-located services provides one safe destination for children with space specifically designed for their needs. Co-locating the services will also result in better cooperation and coordination between the partner agencies. The County assumed multiple office leases at 000 X’Xxxxxx Xxxxx0 as part of the Verity purchase, and three of them, Suites 100, 150, and 170, have been identified for CAC occupancy. Suites 100 and 150 are contiguous, while Suite 100, located directly across the hall from the other suites, will serve as the imaging and lab room. The County hired an Architectural and Engineering firm to work with the CAC stakeholders to develop a space plan, with the goal to optimize the existing layout wherever possible while being mindful of the need to create a and soothing environment for the children that will be seen there. Additionally, Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development building requirements apply since this site requires licensure, which affects the review and approval process. The final design provides for three medical exam rooms, a structurally prepped x-ray and lab draw area, two forensic interview rooms, observation rooms, a children’s playroom, a teen room, family rooms, private offices, hoteling stations for partner agencies, and conference rooms.
