An emergency call facility is also required for use in a range of circumstances such as accidents, or for example, use by bus conductors threatened by aggressive passengers. Safety purposes seem to be well considered by data protection supervisory authorities which appear to be more broad-minded, if security and confidentiality measures are taken. In April 2010, the French authority introduced a recommendation on data location services, partially overruling a previous recommendation dating from 2005 (see appendix).
