Protective. (a) The Hospital agrees to continue its present practices with respect to the provision of protective clothing and safety devices to employees, subject to the provision set out below with respect to safety footwear. The Hospital further agrees to meet directly with the representative of the Union or through the Accident Prevention Committee to discuss the need for any pro- tective clothing or safety equipment in addition to that which the Hospital is presently providing. Effective June and on that date for each subsequent year, the Hospital will provide per year to each employee who is required by the Hospital to wear safety footwear during the course of his duties.
Protective terms in relation to the reminding of related risks shall be applicable to this Contract.

Health Safety Protection while driving or in attendance in an Ambulance vehicle will be maintained. Any problems arising will be presented to the Occupational Health and Safety Committee, requesting that an inspector from the Ministry look into and attend to this problem. PAID HOLIDAYS The holidays with pay for this Agreement shall be: New Year's Day Thanksgiving Day Canada Day Christmas Day Good Friday Boxing Day Civic Holiday *Employee's Birthday Victoria Day Monday in February Labour Day November Due to the nature of the service necessary in a hospital, many of the employees may be required to work on these holidays. If during the life of this Agreement, the Federal or Provincial Governments declare by statute or proclamation an additional holiday, the said holiday will replace the Monday in February in this Article in the existing agreement dealing with the Paid Holidays. In general, employees will alternate with each other in being absent from work on holidays for instance, an employee having Christmas Day off might not be allowed off on New Day. Employee's preferences shall be considered before posting of schedules for any paid holiday, provided there is no delay in stating the preference. To qualify for paid holiday with pay as above, an employee must work his or her full regularly required shift immediately preceding and his or her full regularly required shift immediately succeeding the holiday unless excused by the Hospital or on Paid Leave of Absence. (It being further understood and agreed that no employee shall receive holiday pay by this means for more than one paid holiday during any one illness except for holidays over Christmas and New Year's in which case no employee shall receive pay for more than three holidays.) Protective. Protective represents and warrants that this Contract has been duly authorized, executed and delivered by it and, assuming the due authorization, execution and delivery hereof by the other parties hereto, constitutes a legal, valid and binding obligation of it enforceable against it in accordance with the terms hereof, except (i) as enforcement may be limited by bankruptcy, insolvency, reorganization, moratorium or other similar laws affecting the enforcement of creditors’ rights generally or by general principles of equity, regardless of whether enforcement is sought in a proceeding in equity or at law and (ii) that no representation or warranty is made with respect to the enforceability of this Contract to the extent that the source of the funds used by the Owner to purchase this Contract renders such funds, or any property or investment acquired with such funds, subject to governmental seizure or other penalty under the USA Patriot Act of 2001, as amended, or any other law, rule or regulation, relating to money laundering, terrorist financing or other illegal activities.
Protective work clothing is attire worn over or in place of regular clothing to protect the employee's clothing from damage or abnormal soiling. Safety equipment is equipment intended to protect the employee while on the job. The University shall continue to provide the protective clothing and safety equipment which it currently makes available to the employees covered by this Agreement.

Protective. Essential protective clothing including coveralls (to be cleaned by the Employer), welder's gloves, protective vests or leather jackets, noise abatement devices, and rainwear shall be supplied at no charge to the employee. In the event that an employee does not return the foregoing items supplied to them by the Employer, the Employer shall charge the cost of same to the employee and deduct this cost from any money owing to the employee.
