PROTECTION OF TREES. Tree designated by the Engineer-in-charge shall be protected from damage during the course of the works and earth level within 1.0 Mtr. of each such tree shall not be changed. Where necessary, such trees shall be protected by providing temporary fencing.

PROTECTION OF TREES. The Contractor shall make every reasonable effort to avoid any damage to trees as a result of the Work. This may include, but is not limited to, tying back any branches which overhang the Work area and interfere with the Work. In cases where all such methods prove ineffective or impossible to implement, the Contractor shall neatly saw off the interfering branch(es) at the trunk or main branch and immediately paint the cut with approved tree paint. The Contractor shall remove any tree damaged beyond saving as a result of the Work, and shall make any and all appropriate restitution to the owning party, public or private. A written release by the owning entity confirming the restitution shall be procured by the Contractor and sent to the MSD PM in the next weekly update email (see Part II, Section 3.2). Within the corporation limits of the City of Cincinnati, the Contractor must at all times also conform to all City of Cincinnati Department of Urban Forestry specifications. All costs related to tree care, including but not limited to maintenance, trimming, painting, and removal, as well as any and all costs of necessary retributions to any owner(s) shall be considered incidental to this Contract and not measured for payment.
PROTECTION OF TREES. 14.1 The Contractor shall be responsible for the protection of tops, trunks and root systems of existing trees and shrubs on the project site. Existing trees and shrubs subject to construction damage shall be protected by planking with 2 x 4's to 8' minimum height. Installation of protective structure shall be made before any work is started and not removed until directed by the University's Representative.

Branches which overhang the construction limits and which interfere with the operation of equipment shall be tied back to avoid damage, if possible. Where injury to branches is unavoidable, the branches shall be sawed off neatly at the trunk or main branch, and the cut area shall be painted with approved tree paint immediately. The contractor, at no additional expense, shall remove any trees damaged beyond saving, and make restitution to the owner (public or private). The contractor should be aware that the City of Cincinnati, Division of Urban Forestry Specifications is stringent regarding the removal and replacement of trees; its rules apply only within the limits of the City of Cincinnati. The contractor is responsible for the acquisition and payment of any permits associated with removing a tree. This is considered incidental to the contract and not measured separately for payment.
PROTECTION OF TREES. 14.1.1 The following protection measures will be considered and implemented during fieldwork operations, as appropriate: • provision of appropriate protective fencing to reduce the risks associated with vehicles trafficking over root systems or beneath canopies; • measures to prevent excessive compaction of soils; • avoidance of vegetation buffer strips, where reasonably practicable; • selective removal of lower branches to reduce the risk of damage by construction plant and vehicles; • specialist guidance for working within root protection zones (RPZs) including procedures to follow in the event that significant roots are uncovered during work will be available via the GIDM.
