Promotional Exams. The Village through its Board of Police Commissioners agrees to abide by the statutory guidelines for notice of promotional exams pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-10, or as modified. The parties further agree that any grievance alleging a violation of this Article may proceed through Step 3 of the grievance procedure and no further. By agreeing to such limitation, the Union or officer does not waive any statutory rights to file a cause of action against the Village, its officers or agents in a court of law alleging a violation of federal or state law.
Promotional Exams. An employee who takes a CITY promotional exam during time the employee is required to work shall be given reasonable release time to take the exam. The employee shall use the approved time off request procedure whenever release time is desired pursuant to this Article.
Promotional Exams. When an employee is scheduled to take a Minneapolis Civil Service promotional examination during his or her regular scheduled hours of duty, the City shall grant reasonable time off to take the examination except in emergencies as declared by the Chief of Police and the Mayor of Minneapolis. If such an emergency occurs, the City shall request the Civil Service Commission to reschedule the examination.
Promotional Exams. Insofar as practicable and consistent with the best interests of the service, all vacancies in the competitive service shall be filled by promotion from within the competitive service after a promotional examination has been given and a promotional list established.
Promotional Exams. A. The University will identify for the Police Chief or designee the following elements of any written examination required for promotion:
Promotional Exams a. The Department shall conduct regularly scheduled promotional exams for Fire Engineers and Captains. No two promotional exams will be given within a six month period of each other, except in the case of urgent business necessity. Notification of testing shall occur no less than 90 days prior to date of test. Posting for vacant positions on all special teams, ARFF, and vacancies for union positions in Training shall be posted as they occur.
Promotional Exams. All promotions shall require a test provided however if there are five (5) or fewer qualified candidates or if the number of candidates does not exceed the number of vacancies, the test requirement is waived and all qualified candidates will be placed on the eligibility list in order of seniority. At least four (4) months prior to promotional tests, the City shall notify the IAFF of methods of tests to be used, sources to be studied and the date of the test which will be at least two (2) months prior to the expiration of the current list, when applicable. Should there be a change in the source material the City will provide a six (6) months’ notice in lieu of a four (4) months’ notice. Standard test sources shall include: For the position of Driver Engineer (grade F-3), sources shall be limited to the SOG’s and rules and regulations, and the collective bargaining agreement. For the position of Paramedic (grade F-4), sources shall be limited to the SOG’s and rules and regulations, Medical Protocol, collective bargaining agreement. For the position of Rescue Lieutenant (grade F-5), sources shall be limited to the SOG’s, rules and regulations, Medical Protocol, NFPA Company Officer and collective bargaining agreement. For positions above Rescue Lieutenant (grades above F-5) sources shall be limited to the SOG’s, rules and regulations, NFPA Company Officer and collective bargaining agreement. The promotional exam shall be weighted as 100% with education points and seniority points added after a grade of at least 60% is obtained. Seniority points, if applicable, shall be determined as provided in Article 32.3. Education points, if applicable, shall be determined as provided in Appendix F. On promotional exams with more than one test component, each component will be weighted equally (for example, for a four component promotional exam, each component will be weighted 25%; for a two component promotional exam, each component will be weighted 50%). All parts will be completed and an average score of all components must equal 60% or greater to obtain education and seniority points.
