PROJECT SUMMARY AND ADMINISTRATION. A. The Fiscal Year 2019-20 State Budget includes funding in the amount of $30 million for the California Violence Intervention and Prevention (CalVIP) Grant Program, to be administered by the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC). California cities that are disproportionately impacted by violence and the community-based organizations that that serve the residents of those cities are eligible to apply for CalVIP grant funding. The purpose of the CalVIP Grant is to improve public health and safety by supporting effective violence reduction initiatives in communities that are disproportionately impacted by violence, particularly group-member involved homicide, shootings and aggravated assaults (Penal Code Sec. 14131(b)).

PROJECT SUMMARY AND ADMINISTRATION. A. The Fiscal Year 2019-20 State Budget includes funding in the amount of $24.7 million for local assistance grants for the Proposition 64 Public Health and Safety (Prop 64 PH&S) Grant Program, to be administered by the BSCC. The purpose of this grant program is to fund projects that assist with law enforcement efforts, fire protection efforts, or other local projects addressing public health and safety associated with the implementation of the Control, Regulate and Tax Adult Use of Marijuana Act (AUMA).
PROJECT SUMMARY AND ADMINISTRATION. A. To fund a diversion program of rehabilitative services for repeat, low level offenders who cycle in and out of the courts. The population of focus is adults who are unable to independently complete the requirements of their conditional sentence and are assessed as needing care coordination services and treatment for mental health and/or substance use disorders. Most in this population will also need assistance with finding a path out of homelessness.
PROJECT SUMMARY AND ADMINISTRATION. The Xxxxxx Xxxxx Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program allows states and units of local government, including tribes, to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on their own state and local needs and conditions. Grant funds can be used for state and local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, and information systems for criminal justice, including for any one or more of the following program areas: 1) law enforcement programs; 2) prosecution and court programs; 3) prevention and education programs; 5) drug treatment and enforcement programs; and 8) mental health programs and related law enforcement and corrections programs. This JAG award will be used to support criminal justice initiatives that fall under one or more of the allowable program areas above. Funded programs or initiatives may include multijurisdictional drug and gang task forces, crime prevention and domestic violence programs, courts, corrections, treatment, justice information sharing initiatives, or other programs aimed at reducing crime and/or enhancing public/officer safety. Xxxxxxx agrees to administer the project in accordance with Attachment 1: 2022 JAG Request for Proposals (by reference) and Attachment 2: 2022 JAG Application for Funding, which is attached and hereto and made part of this agreement.

The Alameda County Probation Department (ACPD) is requesting funding from the Board of State and Community Corrections' (BSCC) Youth Reinvestment Grant Program to develop and implement an innovative, collaborative approach to ending youth violence in the City of Oakland and diverting youth from entering or continuing their involvement in the juvenile justice system called Changing the Game: Ending Youth Violence through Positive Engagement. Changing the Game is a collaboration between probation, police and the community that utilizes sports and wrap-around support to provide youth with positive alternatives, healthy social interactions, critical mental health support, and community role models to reduce the likelihood that they will engage, or continue to engage, in risky behaviors in the community.
