Project rationale. Development of a new revenue source for the city in an effort to lower taxes for parks and recreation. Attract new tourism dollars for local businesses. Create new lodging options in Silver Bay. Help offset the demand for camp sites along the North Shore. Create jobs and business diversification. Business development within the Eco-Park as well. Provide an educational experience related to the history of mining in Silver Bay. * The entire City of Silver Bay is on the Historic Preservation Register, as deemed by the State. Project rationale. Indigenous people in the Ashburton/Roebourne region encounter a range of education and training barriers. Through collaboration, strategies will be developed to better address these barriers so as to enable local Indigenous people to take advantage of the many employment opportunities available in the region, especially in the resource sector. Project rationale. Obtaining and retaining a drivers licence has been identified as a significant barrier to gaining employment. Obtaining the requisite on-site experience for a HR licence is also a particular barrier to securing employment in the resources sector. This project will focus on three identified areas and groups of people: 1. Individuals who don’t have/have never held a drivers licence; 2. Individuals who have been disqualified/don’t have a current licence as a result of traffic infringements/fines; and 3. Individuals with appropriate licences but who lack suitable on-site operations experience. Project rationale. Indigenous people are failing Industry standard drug and alcohol tests which either prevent them from gaining employment in the mining industry or cause them to lose their jobs. There are not enough resources allocated to ensure suitable services are provided to address this problem. It has also been identified that those services that are currently provided are not being fully utilised. An integrated regional drug and alcohol service is to be developed across the Pilbara under an MOU between the Office of Aboriginal and Xxxxxx Strait Islander Health (OATSIH) and the Drug and Alcohol Office (DAO). This will include the resources of the Community Drug Services Team, an existing OAH funded worker in Onslow and additional workers located in three sites across the Pilbara. Project rationale. To establish long term secure tenure over townships to facilitate certainty for residents, a secure basis for government investment especially in housing and infrastructure, to support better service delivery, to attract private investment and to facilitate business development and home ownership for Anindilyakwa people. Objective Agency Targets When The Anindilyakwa Land Council will support the grant of township leases over Angurugu and Umbakumba on Groote Eylandt and Milyakburra on Xxxxxxxxx Island to the Executive Director of Township Leasing, subject to relevant amendments to section 19A of the Land Rights Act, and to the requirements of the Land Rights Act. The Commonwealth will support the grant of the leases, subject to relevant amendments to section 19A of the Land Rights Act, and to the requirements of the Land Rights Act. The township lease terms will be those set out in the letter of intent signed by representatives of the Anindilyakwa Land Council and the Commonwealth. Project Rationale: Improving education outcomes is a critical priority to enhance employment and other life outcomes. All parties agree there is a need to improve education standards in the region, compared to national benchmarks, and improve employment rates. Objective Agency Targets When Funding will be provided to the Anindilyakwa Land Council to engage a consultant for a Review of Education Needs at Groote Eylandt and Xxxxxxxxx Island jointly supported by the Australian and Northern Territory Governments. The Review will be conducted in accordance with the Terms of Reference which have been agreed by all parties and managed by a Steering Committee comprised of representatives nominated by the Anindilyakwa Land Council, the Australian Government and the Northern Territory Government.
