Programming Themes. The Institute programming will highlight improvements in governance processes, integrated resource management, and economic development and diversification in developing country extractive sectors. Specific communication channels for the Institute’s programs and services will be identified and will include elements that are both internal and external to the Institute. Internal channels will target Coalition Members including relevant faculties and research centres, the Strategic Partner Network and the Advisory Council. External channels will reach country governments and stakeholders, NGOs, and resource extraction industry associations. Communication of achievements constitutes an important element of the Institute’s approach. The Institute will mobilize its Strategic Partner Network to make public its achievements in Canada and internationally. We will coordinate this activity with Canadian government groups that have existing presence overseas and with knowledge organizations and leaders in the extractive sectors of developing countries. The Fellows program will create a network in target regions ready to describe and support the programs and projects of the Institute. Case studies, applied research and advisory projects will be submitted to relevant grant agencies and successful grants and awards will be promoted.
