Professional Leave Policy. Teachers in the Archbold School System are permitted release time with full pay to attend workshops, conferences, and visitations to other schools. Registration and travel expenses are reimbursed by the District per IRS guidelines. Teachers are expected to turn in receipts for all expenditures. Receipts will be reviewed and amounts in excess of the board policy may require verification that the expenditure is appropriate. Meal reimbursements will be granted per IRS guidelines. Professional leave requests must come through the building principal to the Superintendent, who will determine if the request is reasonable and of value to the school system. If granted, a qualified substitute will be used during the teacher's absence. Each teacher may be limited to six teacher-requested professional leave days per year based upon available funding. Professional leave for extracurricular purposes will be charged against the six days unless the teacher is supervising students who are participating in the event. If a request is denied, the teacher can make a written request for a written explanation of the denial. A written response will then be provided by the building principal/administrator. The Board will provide six (6) Association leave days for purposes of attending the OEA R.A's. (See ROP 2013)

Professional Leave Policy. Any certified staff member may request professional leave for the purpose of attending clinics, workshops, conferences and other educational activities. The principal shall review the request, consult with the staff member making the request if the information is unclear, approve or not approve the request, sign and submit the same to the Superintendent for review. At the staff member’s request any leave not approved by the building principal shall be reviewed in a conference with the building principal, staff member, and the Superintendent. The completed request shall include a brief estimate of registration, meals, and lodging. A teacher who attends a professional meeting or school activity shall be reimbursed allowable expenses within thirty (30) days from the date submitted.

Any request for this leave must state the probable date of return and be accompanied by a verifying physician's statement. If the leave was granted as a result of a work related injury the employee may request and shall be granted a one (1) year extension of this leave. Before returning, such teacher must submit a physician's release. To be eligible for an extended medical leave of absence, an employee must have been actively employed on paid status with APS a minimum of one contract year immediately prior to the leave start date. All intermittent medical leaves will be addressed according to FMLA regulations.

  • Extended Personal Leave Personal leave without pay not to exceed thirty (30) 26 days may be granted at the discretion of the Superintendent. Personal leave in 27 excess of thirty (30) days shall be subject to approval by the Board.

  • Medical Leave Pursuant to applicable provisions of the Civil Service Rules, County Code, and other law, medical leaves of absence will be granted by the employee’s Department Head upon request only upon submission of a doctor’s certificate or other satisfactory medical evidence of the employee’s need for such leave.

  • Additional Leaves Should an employee require additional time to care for a gravely ill family member, additional leaves may be granted beyond the eight (8) week period specified above. Such additional leave shall be pursuant to Article 13.02

  • Paid Educational Leave a. An employee may request special paid leave at straight-time hourly rate which may be granted employees for educational purposes which will benefit the State by adding to or strengthening employee skills or knowledge and to allow employees to attend approved conferences, professional meetings and workshops.
