In order to ensure communication, articulation and coordination in curriculum development and delivery, and to encourage curriculum innovation, the District and the Association will establish a committee whose membership will include, but not be limited to, non-supervisory staff, representative of grade levels, buildings and curricular areas. The Association will appoint a representative to the committee.

Professional Involvement. A. In order to ensure collaboration and communication, the District and the Association agree to create a committee of teachers and administrators to investigate emerging, urgent and strategic District needs; advise and make recommendations to the Director of Learning Services for the management and implementation of District instructional initiatives and policies. The Association will collaborate with the District in appointing teacher leaders, including an Association representative, to the committee whose number shall be equal to the number of administrators. Annual review of membership and charges will be subject to joint review by the District and Association.

The participants authorize the mediator to send to their attorneys, any agreements, or progress reports, that may be prepared as part of the mediation process.

Professional Involvement. Within areas of professional expertise where decisions are made which significantly alter the instructional environment, employees may desire to contribute to the educational program of the District by participating actively and constructively in various District-level and building level committees. A process shall be established to provide for participation either directly or through representation. Participation on such committees shall be voluntary.
