Professional Advancement a. A teacher who submits a program of study for a sabbatical leave shall undertake a full program. For purposes of this Article, "full program" shall be defined as follows:

Professional Advancement. The following paragraph applies to any bargaining unit member employed by the District during the 2004-2005 school year: A certified teacher, by provisional or permanent or life certificate, shall (upon satisfactory proof) be reimbursed for semester hours of graduate value to the extent of one-half (1/2) the cost of tuition which the teacher has paid and had not, nor will not, be reimbursed from any other source. This payment is to be made upon return to the district in September for credits earned during the previous school year. The following paragraph applies to any new bargaining unit member employed to teach during the 2005-2006 school year or later: A certified teacher employed under a provisional certificate shall (upon satisfactory proof) be reimbursed for up to eighteen (18) semester hours of graduate value to the extent of one-half the cost of tuition which he himself has paid and for which he has not, nor will not, be reimbursed from any other source. Upon becoming eligible for Professional certificate, this initial benefit terminates. Once the teacher has received their Professional certificate, the teacher shall (upon satisfactory proof) be reimbursed for up to six (6) semester hours of graduate value every five (5) years to the extent of one-half (1/2) the cost of tuition which the teacher has paid and has not, nor will not, be reimbursed from any other source. This payment is to be made upon the teachers return to the district in September for credits earned during the previous school year. Upon becoming eligible for movement from one track to another, the teacher shall notify the administration in writing with appropriate documentation for placement on a new track. If this eligibility occurs during the school year, such new placement will be made at the beginning of the next semester, with new salary beginning upon such placement.
Professional Advancement. Employees who have completed three (3) consecutive years with the District may be granted up to one (1) year’s leave of absence without pay for the purpose of furthering approved educational objectives. An employee on leave of absence will retain her/his salary rating and accrued sick leave earned prior to the year of leave, and upon return will be reinstated in a position the same as, or equivalent to, held at the time the leave was granted, subject to the needs of the District. Application for a leave of absence under the policy shall be made to the District in writing at the earliest possible date.
Professional Advancement. 1. Each certificated teacher will advance to the next higher column for educational attainment on the state salary schedule when sufficient quarter-hours of post graduation education have been attained.

Professional Advancement. During the term of the contractual position as CITY MANAGER, CITY agrees to budget and pay professional dues, conferences, and subscriptions of CITY MANAGER for necessary participation in national, regional, and state associations and organizations for professional growth and advancement in the field of municipal management. The CITY agrees to budget and pay travel and subsistence expenses for CITY MANAGER for short courses, institutes, and seminars necessary for professional development of CITY MANAGER. The organizations and programs in which CITY MANAGER would participate at the expense of the CITY shall be mutually agreed upon, in advance, between the CITY and CITY MANAGER.
Professional Advancement. 6.2.8.1 Professional advancement as used within these provisions must directly relate and contribute to the competence, performance or effectiveness of the unit member in his/her current assignment and possible future needs of the District, with the District approval. Unit members who request professional advancement credit shall submit a completed application, from Appendix F, to the District administration which contains a description of activity, and its relationship to the teaching assignment, and acceptable documented evidence of successful completion of the professional advancement activity. Official grade cards may be accepted pending the receipt of official transcripts in order to meet deadlines. Official transcripts must be received no later than 6 months from receipt of the grade card. Should the request be denied by district administration, an ad hoc committee shall be formed to review the request. This committee shall consist of two district representatives, chosen by the district, two teachers, chosen by the union, and one mutually agreed upon person. The committees decision will become final.
Professional Advancement. Employees will be encouraged to continue their education. The Board agrees to reimburse the employee for courses pre-approved by the Superintendent up to One Hundred Twenty- Five and 00/100 Dollars ($125.00) per hour on non-reimbursable program costs not to exceed fifteen (15) hours a year. Credit for advancement on the salary schedule will be granted for courses that are successfully completed with a “B” or better grade. The courses shall relate to the area or subject matter taught by the teacher, computer education and/or additional State of Illinois teaching certificates that will make teachers eligible for additional classroom and/or support service assignments. If the employee’s request is denied, he/she would have the right to bring the request to the Board for the Board’s review and decision. In order for the employee to receive credit on the salary schedule for completed coursework, the official transcript must be received in the District Office no later than September 1 of that school year.
