Procedure for Processing Grievances. 4.2.1 Step One – Informal Process The employee may first discuss the grievance with his/her immediate supervisor. If the employee wishes, he/she may be accompanied by an Association representative at such discussion.

Procedure for Processing Grievances. The grievant, the Association representative or the Association may orally present a grievance to the immediate supervisor.
Procedure for Processing Grievances. All matters of grievances and complaints should be settled at the lowest level of management in accordance with the procedures herein. Before filing a contract interpretation grievance the employee shall first meet with their immediate supervisor to attempt to resolve the concern. No such meeting is required before filing a grievance in response to disciplinary action.

The parties acknowledge that it is usually most desirable for a professional person and his immediate supervisor to resolve problems through free and informal communications. When requested by the professional person, the Association representative may intervene to assist in this resolution. However, should such informal process fail to satisfy the professional person or the Association, then a grievance shall be processed as follows:

However, the grievant must present the written 11 grievance within 30 calendar days after he/she becomes aware of the action. Time limits under 12 unusual circumstances may be extended by written mutual consent. Facts and evidence shall be 13 furnished to the Association and the District and witnesses shall be made available for questioning.
