Pre-Planned Leave of Absence Without Pay for Union Business. A Union member elected or appointed to Local Union Office will be granted an unpaid leave for purposes of performing Union business on behalf of the Local and/or Bargaining Unit, where the Manager of Custodial Services, Manager of Maintenance Services or the Manager of Purchasing, whichever is applicable, has received and approved a written request from the Union at least five (5) business days in advance of the requested time off, on the following terms and conditions:

  • Leave of Absence for Union Business (a) The Employer shall grant leaves of absence to employees to attend Union Conventions, negotiations of the Collective Agreement with the Employer and other Union business. The Union agrees that such leave will not unduly affect the proper operations or be detrimental to the proficient operations of the Employer.

  • Maternity Leave Without Pay (a) An employee who becomes pregnant shall, upon request, be granted maternity leave without pay for a period beginning before, on or after the termination date of pregnancy and ending not later than eighteen (18) weeks after the termination date of pregnancy.

  • LEAVE OF ABSENCE - UNION BUSINESS 11.08.01 Employees who have been elected or appointed to carry out business authorized by the Union on a full-time basis shall be granted a Leave of Absence for this purpose.   • Leave of Absence Without Pay A permanent employee may be granted unpaid leave either with the right to return or without the right to return. Exception: No paid leave of any kind will be granted an employee who is on suspension as discipline.

  • Education Leave Without Pay I. The Employer recognizes the usefulness of education leave. Upon written application by the employee and with the approval of the Employer, an employee may be granted education leave without pay for varying periods of up to one (1) year, which can be renewed by mutual agreement, to attend a recognized institution for studies in some field of education in which preparation is needed to fill the employee’s present role more adequately or to undertake studies in some field in order to provide a service which the Employer requires or is planning to provide.

  • Parental Leave Without Pay (a) Where an employee has or will have the actual care and custody of a new-born child (including the new-born child of a common-law partner), the employee shall, upon request, be granted parental leave without pay for a single period of up to thirty-seven (37) consecutive weeks in the fifty-two (52) week period beginning on the day on which the child is born or the day on which the child comes into the employee’s care.
