Power Engineers. (a) Subject to the recommendations of the Provincial Workload Study Committee, the Power Engineer classification covers employees employed on a job where a Power Engineer's license is required as a condition of employment and shall cover the performance of whatever custodian duties are assigned to such an employee by the District, provided that such duties shall not exceed two-thirds (2/3) of the normal duties of a Custodian and are not contrary to the Boiler and Pressure Vessels Act and/or Regulations.
Power Engineers. Any Thermal Plant Power Engineer who attains any provincially recognized power engineer’s certificate with a refrigeration certificate, which is higher than that required for his/her job classification, shall be paid an extra 10¢ per hour.
Power Engineers. For the purposes of this Agreement, the scheduled time off of the shift workers shall include and be deemed to include all the holidays listed in 11.1 (1) above, except for the first Monday in August holiday, which will be paid as eight (8) additional hours’ pay at the regular rate of pay on the first Monday in August and the Christmas Eve holiday, which will be paid as four (4) additional hours’ pay at the regular rate of pay on December 24th. In order to equalize the statutory holiday benefit between employees working the 4-6 shift (12 hours) and the day worker, eight (8) additional hours’ pay per year at the regular rate of pay shall be paid in the last pay prior to Christmas each year (such hours shall be included as pensionable earnings). For the purposes of this Agreement, the statutory holiday benefit as provided herein shall, as of the date of this Agreement, be deemed to be equal between those employees on the 4-6 (12 hour) shift and the day worker. Shift workers may request to have a maximum of two (2) days off each year instead of Holiday payment for two (2) previously worked Statutory Holidays. The Supervisor may grant this time off provided a replacement is not required. With reference to the half-day Christmas Eve Statutory Holiday, those shift workers on twelve (12) hour shifts - between the hours of 1200 hours to 2400 hours on December 24th will receive the holiday credit for time actually worked. Notwithstanding 11.1 (2) above, all shift workers who are working on regular shift shall be paid double the regular rate of pay for the time worked on any of the holidays set forth in 11.1 (1). Such holidays will be observed on the actual calendar day.
Power Engineers. When the Heating Plant requires 24 hour coverage, the normal hours of work for power engineers will be composed of 28 shifts of 12 hours each spread over an eight week period. Until June 30, 2019, for these normal hours, each power engineer will be paid each pay period for 80 hours at straight time rates, four hours at overtime rates, 28 hours with the evening shift premium, and 28 hours with the night shift premium. As of July 1, 2019, for these normal hours, each power engineer will be paid each pay period for 80 hours straight time rates, four hours at overtime rates, and 48 hours at the new single shift premium rate, as per 29.01. When the Heating Plant does not require 24 hour coverage, the normal hours of work for power engineers will be eighty (80) hours every pay period. Each week consists of four rotating 10-hour shifts. Each week a duty Power Engineer will be designated on a rotating schedule and their 4th shift will consist of doing the boiler checks on the weekend and carrying and responding to the Heating Plant duty cell phone. If the on- duty Power Engineer is required to go to the Heating Plant after hours as a result of an alarm, then this response will be treated as a call back as per articles 25 and 27. The on- duty Power Engineer will not be able to take vacation during their week on-duty. This schedule may be changed by the Employer in consultation with the Union with two weeksnotice in writing.
Power Engineers. Power Engineers shall be compensated for eighty (80) hours bi-weekly inclusive of meals and rest periods.

  • Geotechnical 19 The A/E as required shall review past pavement, soil 20 and geology investigations, discuss past findings as 21 impacting the subject roadway project, and independently 22 perform design-needed geotechnical services including 23 development and implementation of a field investigation plan 24 involving any field data collection as deemed necessary, 25 development of a laboratory testing program to conduct soils 26 surface and subsurface characterization tests as applicable 1 to the needs of the project, development of seismic analysis 2 and design criteria in accordance with code requirements, 3 development of pavement condition studies to provide 4 recommendations concerning life cycle costs and 5 rehabilitation/reconstruction methods, and recommendations 6 for the design of foundations, embankment and excavation 7 procedures, settlement analysis, lateral, active, and passive 8 earth pressures, de-watering, landslide mapping, slope 9 stabilization, soil corrosion, erosion, sedimentation control 10 and other applicable design criteria as deemed necessary.
