POLITICAL LEAVE OF ABSENCE. To enable a College employee to contest a Federal, Provincial, Municipal, or other local election, a political leave of absence, without pay, may be granted by the Board, on the recommendation of the President, for a period of up to six (6) weeks for a Federal or Provincial election and up to two (2) weeks for a Municipal or other local election, except when the campaign period coincides with a normal vacation period. The leaves will be subject to the following conditions:

POLITICAL LEAVE OF ABSENCE. The Board recognizes that Employees ought to be as free as are members of any profession to participate in public life. It shall, therefore, upon written request, grant leaves of absence to Employees who are candidates in a federal or provincial election, but subject to the following conditions.
POLITICAL LEAVE OF ABSENCE. An unpaid leave of absence may be granted for an employee who is a candidate for public office for the duration of the election campaign and for the term of office (if applicable), upon timely application and for a reasonable period of time. The terms of such leave of absence shall be set forth in writing, and the leave shall not affect unfavorably the continuous appointment status of full-time Faculty or Academic Professional employees or the assignment-rights status of part-time Faculty, except that time spent on such leave shall not count as probationary service (including qualifying for assignment rights) unless otherwise agreed to. Temporary employees are not eligible for a political leave of absence.

  • Medical Leave of Absence Where you have a medical leave of absence due to any medically determinable physical or mental impairment that can be expected to result in death or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than six months, and you have not returned to employment with the Company or an Affiliate, a Separation from Service has occurred on the earlier of: (A) the first day on which you would not be considered “disabled” under any disability policy of the Company or Affiliate under which you are then receiving a benefit; or (B) the first day on which your medical leave of absence period exceeds 29 months.

  • Political Leave Any employee who is a declared candidate for public office shall have the right to a leave of absence without pay for a reasonable period to campaign for the election. Such leave is subject to the conditions governing special leaves of absence without pay contained herein.

  • Educational Leave of Absence Leaves of absence may be granted up to six (6) months under the above provisions only if the course would be beneficial to both the University and the employee.

  • Personal Leave of Absence The Administrator may grant a request for leave of absence for personal reasons without pay provided that he receives at least one (1) month's clear notice, in writing, unless impossible, and provided that such leave may be arranged without undue inconvenience to the normal operations of the Nursing Home. Employees when applying for such leave shall indicate the proposed date of departure and return. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.

  • Unpaid Personal Leave of Absence 1. Any employee may apply for an unpaid personal leave of absence for good and sufficient reason. Leave pursuant to this provision may be for a period not exceeding twelve (12) months in any fourteen (14) consecutive months. Such leave may be granted at the discretion of the appointing authority and shall not be unreasonably denied. Employees are encouraged to consult with their agency/department Personnel Officer to determine if they are eligible for benefits available under the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act. All requests for such leave and responses shall be in writing. The application for leave must specifically state the reasons for such application and the length of time requested. After completion of a period of personal leave of absence, the employee shall be entitled to return to the organizational unit, status and position held immediately prior to the beginning of the leave of absence. If the employee's position is abolished during any such leave, he/she shall be notified and allowed to exercise his/her rights under the Seniority Article of this Agreement.

  • Special Leave of Absence Teachers may be granted leaves of absence without pay for one (1) year under the following criteria:

  • Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness Leave a) Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness leaves granted to a permanent Teacher or long-term Occasional Teacher under this Article shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act, 2000, as amended.

  • Sabbatical Leaves 49. Members taking their first Sabbatical Leave after a probationary period at The University of Western Ontario shall receive 90.0% of their Base Salary; Members taking their second or subsequent Sabbatical Leave from The University of Western Ontario shall receive 85.0% of their Base Salary.

  • Sabbatical Leave The purpose of a sabbatical leave is to enhance professional development, support department/unit goals, and/or meet the instructional, service, or research priorities of the university.
