Political Activity Leave. The Board shall grant a leave to any Teacher to campaign for, or serve in, a public office. This leave shall not exceed one (1) year. A second year may be granted at the Board’s discretion.
Political Activity Leave. Employees who choose to run for political office will be granted and will take an unpaid leave of absence commencing thirty (30) days prior to the primary and/or general election. Employees elected to public office or selected to serve on a governmental commission will be granted an unpaid leave of absence for the initial term of office only.

No request for leave will be necessary when such activity does not interfere with a teacher contract. The teacher shall make a request for political activity leave prior to an announcement to campaign or to serve in a public office in which the teacher would be required to be absent from an assignment position.
