Personal Paid Days. 16.01 Employees who have completed one (1) continu- ous year of service shall be entitled to a maximum of thirty-seven and one half (37½) hours. Qualified employees will become eligible for five (5) personal paid days on January 1st of each year. Such hours shall be accumulated on the basis of three point sev- en five (3.75) hours per month of active service and must be taken within the calendar year in which they were earned, or are otherwise forfeited. Scheduling of Personal Paid Days will be by mutual agreement between the Company and the Employee and sched- uled on either full or half day increments with pay based on their normally scheduled shift.

Personal Paid Days. The Company and Union agreed during negotiations that the Company would continue its practice of providing five (5) Personal Paid Days (PPD) to all employees in each calendar year of the contract. The five (5) Personal Paid Days are considered included in the ten (10) unpaid Emergency Leave Days provided for in the Ontario Employment Standards Act. The five paid days may be used for illness, illness of a family member or other emergency leaves. The five (5) Personal Paid Days may also be pre scheduled with their supervisor at least three (3) days in advance to provide the company the opportunity to obtain coverage for the absence. Employees who do not use their five (5) paid days will be paid at year-end for each of the days not utilized. These days may be used as paid emergency leave days (including sickness and illness). No proof of illness (including doctor’s notes) are required when requesting a paid personal leave day.
