Personal Illness/Family Illness. Any employee whose personal or family illness extends beyond the period compensated under Article X shall be granted upon application to the Superintendent, a leave of absence without pay for such time as necessary for complete recovery from such illness up to a maximum of two (2) years, at which time the employee’s employment with the school district is terminated. At the termination point, the employee may apply for disability retirement if he/she meets the requirements for said retirement. Upon return from this leave of absence, an employee shall be assigned to the same position, or equivalent, they held before they became ill; provided the employee was not off in excess of one (1) year, see Section 13.2.

Certified teachers shall be granted ten (10) paid days of personal/family illness leave at the beginning of each school year provided they report to work at the beginning of the school year. If an employee begins the school year on leave, the number of paid days of personal/family illness leave for that year will be prorated based on the percentage of the school year that remains when the employee returns to duty. Employee use of paid leave for family illness purposes is limited to ten days per year. (Personal Business Days may also be used to care for a family member). Teachers can track their accumulated personal illness leave days by accessing the corporation website at xxx.xxxx.xx, then Employee Access, on the top right-hand side of the page, then employee name, and finally, leave balances.
Personal Illness/Family Illness. Bereavement Any teacher who is unable to perform his duties because of illness, or because of the illness or death of father, mother, brother, sister, husband, wife, child, other close relative, or member of his own household, and consequently has to be absent from his work shall be granted leave of absence for sickness by the Superintendent, or by someone designated in writing by him to do so. If abuse is suspected, the Superintendent or designee will meet with the Employee to discuss his/her absences and to notify the Association President after which if the abuse persists, a physician’s certificate may be required for each day of absence. The same provisions as above are available for illness in the immediate family and are charged to sick leave.

  • Personal Illness Employees may use accumulated sick leave for hours off due to personal illness. The employee may be required to furnish a medical certificate from a qualified physician as evidence of illness or physical disability in order to qualify for paid sick leave as per District practice. Accumulated sick leave may also be granted for such time as is actually necessary for office visits to a doctor, dentist, optometrist, etc.

  • Family Illness The start of a family leave for a serious health condition of a family member shall begin on the date requested by the employee or designated by Management.

  • Leave for Family Illness In the case of illness of a member of an employee’s immediate family, meaning spouse, son, daughter, father, mother, or person to whom the employee is legal guardian when no one at home other than the employee can provide for the needs of the ill person, the employee may be granted, after notifying her immediate management supervisor, leave with pay up to five (5) working days per fiscal year, for the purpose of making such arrangements as are necessary to permit the employee’s return to work. The immediate management supervisor may require proof of the need for such leave as she considers necessary.

  • Family Leave 1. An Appointing Authority shall grant to a full time or part time employee who has completed his/her probationary period, or if there is no such probationary period, has been employed for at least three consecutive months, an unpaid leave of absence for up to twenty-six (26) weeks in conjunction with the birth, adoption or placement of a child as long as the leave concludes within twelve (12) months following the birth or placement. The ability to take leave ceases when a xxxxxx placement ceases unless the need for additional leave is directly connected to the previous placement.

  • Personal/Xxxxx’s Leave 7.3.1 All full time employees shall be entitled to accrue paid personal / carer's leave on the basis of 10 days per year (or pro-rata thereof for any period less than one year). Part-time employees are entitled to a pro-rata benefit. Paid personal / carer's leave is cumulative.

  • Critical Illness Leave (i) An Employee who has completed at least ninety (90) days of employment, and is a family member of a critically ill child or a critically ill qualified adult relative, is entitled to leave of absence without pay or benefits: • for a period of up to thirty-six (36) weeks to care for their critically ill child; or, • for a period of up to sixteen (16) weeks to care for a critically ill qualified adult relative.
