Payment for Unused Sick Days. (A) Employees who have accumulated four hundred and eighty (480) hours into their sick leave bank shall continue to accumulate Sick Leave at the rate of four (4) hours per month. Such employees shall automatically be compensated for all hours above four hun- dred and eighty (480) hours on the second (2nd) pay period follow- ing August 1st of each year. The rate of pay for such excess hours shall be the rate in effect as of July 31st of that year.
Payment for Unused Sick Days. 1. A nurse who has completed fifteen (15) years of employment with the District shall be eligible for a payment for unused accumulated sick leave days.
Payment for Unused Sick Days. Teachers who resign and have at least ten years of active service (not including board approved unpaid leave) in the district shall receive pay for one-third of their unused sick days up to a maximum of eighty-five days at a rate equal to 1/200 of yearly salary upon resignation. Secretarial and custodial employees who resign and have at least ten years of active service (not including board approved unpaid leave) in the district shall receive pay of one-third of unused sick days up to a maximum of eighty-five days at a rate equal to 1/220 of yearly salary (secretaries) and 1/240 of yearly salary (custodians) upon resignation. The Board’s maximum liability for the payment of unused sick days shall be Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000) per year. Any amount remaining shall accumulate for a maximum of five times the Board’s annual liability. Payment of the benefit shall be made by July 31st immediately following a resignation received by January 31st of the preceding fiscal year. Employees who fail to give the required advance notice shall be paid on July 31st of the next fiscal year thereafter.
Payment for Unused Sick Days. Employees who retire with fifteen (15) or more years of service with the District and are eligible for retirement under the Michigan School Employees Retirement Act will receive $20.00 for each unused sick day. If employee notifies District by March 1st of retirement at end of school year, an additional $5 per day will be paid for unused sick day(s) if criteria is met. If employee accumulates more than 70 days of unused sick leave and has not missed more than 5 days of sick time in the last 12 months from date of resignation (termination is not allowed payment) then payment of $20 per day will be made. To compensate when the teacher is absent from the classroom, qualifying program assistants will receive a total of $150.00 split into two payments of $75.00 payable for the periods covering Christmas break and Spring break. The substitute teacher assigned during the absence of the teacher who is normally employed to the classroom shall assume all duties of the normally employed teacher as per district policy. In cases where the same qualified substitute teacher is called back to the same classroom after one of the above situations within a four (4) month calendar period from the last assignment, and the qualified substitute teacher assumes all the duties of the normally employed teacher, then the program assistant(s) assigned to that classroom shall not receive any additional pay. As used in the provision above, the normally employed teacher is defined as the certified teacher employed by the district that has a permanent assignment to the classroom.
Payment for Unused Sick Days. Employees retiring from the District with at least ten (10) years of continuous service in the District under the New York State Retirement Plan, shall receive the following benefits. If they have accumulated at least fifty (50) unused sick days, they shall receive a cash payment based on fifty (50%) percent of accumulated days (maximum fifty (50%) per cent of one hundred eighty (180) days) at the rate of pay in effect at that time.

The formula to be used to determine the amount is to be the current salary divided by 237 x current sick day bank x 32% for those hired before July 1, 2003. For all Administrators hired on or after July 1, 2003, the formula to be used to determine the amount is to be the current salary divided by 237 x current sick day bank x 25%.
